Hello Festive Frugalistas,
A little jaunt into town this morning for a small grocery shop. Didn't need to buy as much as planned, as my family has cancelled their visit north at New Year - bit of a saga, but it boils down to coviddy reasons. This got the January grocery budget cycle off to a good start but it is disappointing that they are not coming. We still have our day with friends though.
Bought all my Christmas cards & wrapping paper in the sales for half price - very nice charity ones - plus festive paper napkins. Two of the giftwrap rolls are suitably neutral to be used for birthdays too, so I shouldn't need to buy anything else in this line for the rest of the year.
Have alternated this afternoon between getting 3 loads of laundry done & playing 'Yahtzee' with Mr F while eating Christmas cake & drinking tea. He is now cooking dinner so I'm going to read my library book - 'Little white lies' by Philippa East. Enjoying it so far.
Annoyingly bad toothache today. Really hoping it will settle down of its own accord, without a dentist visit.
Enjoy your evenings,

hi foxgloves
Hope your toothache improves soon.
I have also bought some Xmas cards at the CS; i still have quite a stock of wrapping paper and have kept some from this year to reuse. I've batch made soup today and watched Remains of the Day. I haven't seen my family since Sept but had a nice phone chat with one of my sisters this afternoon

Alas not, @Deni_debt-free_dreamer. Emergency dentist appointment for me this morning, after a dreadful night. Was so grateful to be allocated an appointment today though & to secure a course of antibiotics. Feeling pretty miserable so am about to see if there are any medicinal effects to be gained from a slice of Christmas cake.

Very best wishes to you and Mr F for 2022 x5 -
I have an annual subscription to Period Living as well Foxgloves (my guilty pleasure), but like you, I am finding it a bit 'samey'. It would be nice if they featured houses other than huge mansions owned by 'interior designers' and the like, who happen to be married to stockbrokers etcI must say though, if you read the articles, it is surprising how often items of furniture etc are bought from auctions, secondhand shops, ebay and the like for far less than you would assume from the prices of the kinds of items advertised!Hope the toothache subsides soon! I have an appointment for a filling later in January, which I am NOT looking forward to! And I wasn't even thinking of the expense, which is considerable, as there are no NHS dentists around here except for children and if they are lucky, people on benefits.5

Ah no - the only pain worse than toothache is earache.
I hope those antibiotics kick in soon - if not get on the gin and stay on it.Not giving up
