Put away your purse & become debt-averse

Morning Campers,
I'm not planning too much today, as I'd like to spend this afternoon on a specific project. I don't think my purse will be coming out. I intend to tackle the laundry, make a batch of golden lentil soup to use up a few annoying oddments from the freezer, bake bread & continue putting items away which were displaced while the decorator was here. And I'd like to progress my sock so some knitting time too.
A lovely bright autumn morning here so far. Enjoying watching the sparrow army coming for their breakfast.

2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!4 -
Thanks for the YouTube recommendation @Sun_Addict. I'm going to look at that too, as it's the only kind of exercise I like, except for gardening.

Hello Frugalistas,
Rum sort of day today. Nothing major, you know the kind of thing.....changed plans to accomodate something which then didn't happen, online banking was down, carpet fitting turned into a saga, had a niggly headache, basically one of those days where there is a lot of waiting around & you are trying your best not to let the day go to waste. I think I have more or less succeeded in doing that, at least.
I did get a bit more of that pesky sock knitted while I was waiting for a phone call & did a stock check of our medicine/first aid box while waiting for another. I also did the horrid ironing. I am hoping to finish knitting my sock tonight. Well, I've nothing exciting to impart, so I shall go & make a start on chopping veg for dinner. Certainly no money spent today, as haven't been anywhere!
Better crack on,

Afternoon Campers,
Busy couple of days - staircarpet fitting saga now resolved 😊. Have been doing lots of budget updates as there were several transfers from various savings pots & I wanted to get them right. I also put a bit of time backing up various projects, docs & my vintage family photo archive to my external hard drive before installing Windows 11, just in case my laptop decided to stage a meltdown. All seems fine, however.
Today I've had a rummage round the kitchen for use-it-up opportunities as I don't want to get back to wasted food items. Carrots, parsnip & cabbage prepped, blanched & frozen, a zest less lemon squeezed & juice frozen, meal plan altered so as to use up a few potatoes tonight. Also baked a pear cake & a tin of biscuits as these will cut potential spendyness in coffee shops. Just waiting for a loaf of bread to come out of the oven, then on with my use-it-ups.
Useful Skype chat with my sis this morning. We made some Christmas meet-up arrangements which gives me a target date for having all their presents wrapped. Posted them last year because of covid & it was costly as 2 big boxes & a large package. Hopefully this won't need to happen again, although I am defo not one of these numpties acting as though the pandemic is over.
That's the oven timer pinging....
Take care m'dears,
F x

P. S Finished Mr F's socks. Lovely yarn in different shades of purple. They are now in the presents stash.

Well I did it...I bought a heated airer. I know I wasn't going to but then after several mornings of still soggy towels from the day before shower, I caved. (It's still not cold enough here for heating yet and until we do the bathroom there's no accessible place to hang towels to dry).We went for a small fold out winged jobbie, just £40 to see if it's what we needed and cor blimey it's amazing. Towels dry in an hour after our showers and then washing does the on the line/in the garage on the line for 24 hours before finishing off on the airer for an hour or 2...it's amazing. So much so that I sold my tumble drier yesterday!
It really takes the chill off the room it's in too which is an added bonus.6
