Hi Foxgloves and Gang. Well, exciting news. Our Narrowboat Squire's is being put in the water on Thursday but we don't know if it will be morning or afternoon yet. Very excited now. I had it in my head it was going to be Friday, I'm trying to get my head round it that's its now going to be Thursday. my list is boots for mrP. Waterproof coat for me as I'm sure there will be some very wet days. Measure and get a new mattress for the bed that is on Squires. Doggy treats and a food shop by Thursday. And get the wood burner going ASAP. I hope you are all well? That Covid seems to be about again🙈 Keep Safe everyone and take care XX
Ps we had someone round today to look

Evening Frugal diary friends,
Yes, am OK (thanks for asking, @Four_Seasons), it's been pretty busy & chaotic here. Final day of decorator today & it all looks fab. Mr F was off today so he was on workman duty while I went & got the choppy bits cut back into my bob. Feels much tidier! I also got my hands into the soil this afternoon & felt my spirits soar! I only intended to do about an hour but was making such visible inroads into cutting back one of my big borders, I stayed out all afternoon & I know I will be really stiff tomorrow. Worth it though! Will write more of a post tomorrow when I am not so knackered. My mission tonight is staying awake through GBBO while hopefully finishing a sock, as I have already knitted almost up to the toe.
And I suppose I will have to do some cleaning soon.... the sanding/filler dust is unbelievable. Ah well, there's still plenty of this week left, so I shall await a burst of productivity.
Love to all,

I rushed around the shops today as I didn't want to leave our dogs in the motorhome for long and I forgot to go to Iceland sorry.

Hi Foxgloves. A quick update. Squire's is going back in the water 9am Thursday morning 😊 Will take pics
Hubby got his Boots today, didn't see a coat for me. No Sketchers in my size either☹ I love them, they are so comfy. They have to be the slip on one's as I can't bend very well to do shoe laces up. I did get myself new hat and gloves. We got new towels for Squire's. . That's my exciting day today ha ha. Bye for now keep safe X X XMortgage free September 2021. Narrowboat brought October 2021

@Pixiehouse55 - It will be so exciting for you both, as you watch your boat go back into the water! The interior looked in good nick in the photos you posted. Is it liveable in pretty much straight away? I suppose there are things you can work on to make it your own while you are actually living on board.
Funny how so many of us are now fancying a walnut whip (or three). I do agree about the rip-off variety with no walnut! I remember reading this about this story when the 'new' version first appeared. Apparently it was to provide customer choice for those who do not like walnuts BUT there was a good deal of cynicism (not least in our household) that it happened when the price of nuts were increasing. Hmmm. I think I would file the lack of walnut issue under the general heading of shrinkflation, as I bet the price is the same.

Good afternoon campers!
Well, I managed not to fall asleep during GBBO (though I only had a dining chair on which to sit, so it wasn't conducive to dropping off tbh) & I did finish that sock & cast on its pair. Woke at 5.50 am, which is a decent night for me & this is the first time I've sat down so far since my porridge, pears & coffee this morning. The sofa arrived mid-morning but haven't had time to start removing the packaging. Decided first thing that I need a plan for the rest of the week & this is it: Today - Clear two weeks of ironing & put it away. Unpack sofa. Bake bread. Make a nice anniversary meal. We don't always exchange cards for anniversaries. If we've been out for coffee & treats or have a meal planned, etc, we often don't bother......so I felt bad this morning when Mr F presented me with a nice card with a lovely message in, including his thanks for 'making the last 20 years so much fun", etc, I decided to bake him a card. I couldn't go out for any additional ingredients because of needing to wait in for both the sofa lorry & a package from Postie, but I think he will like it. I made two sponges, then made a card template to cut out two rectangles. I stamped a big heart shape out of one & sandwiched the layers together with strawberry jam. I've iced the top white, & glued on the stamped out heart shape at an angle, having iced it purple (which was the colour of our wedding cake) & written '20' in silver balls. I only have one jar of sprinkles in the pantry but I tipped them out & picked out all the stars & decorated the rest of the white icing with those. If I'd thought of this idea earlier, I would have attempted to make it stand up in 3-D, but it is the size & shape of a card & it looks like one, so I reckon he'll like it & the fact that is is made from cake will probably be regarded as a bonus. Anyway, I'm digressing into the realms of cake......so given that I am going to cook something nice tonight, I shall only get a few odds & sods of jobs done this afternoon.
Tomorrow: Sofa should now be in place, big hall bookcase too, hopefully, so the plan is to put all my books back on it & then to go around the house putting back everything that is out of place & then giving everywhere a good vacuum. Everywhere is so dusty, I'm thinking this will probably take most of the day, esp as there's a lot of stuff lying around in the wrong place still.
Friday: This will be my Big Budget Day. It will be quite a significant one, as I need to put a few specific things in place for November, as well as update the Home Improvements Budget following the final big invoice until the final phase of work next year. If I stick to my mission for each of the days, I will feel much more in control generally, as well as feeling we've 'got our house back'.
Oh my goodness, I'm so glad I spent some time making The Beloved a cake anniversary card as there has just been a knock at the door & it was a florist delivering a beautiful floral arrangement. It is now up on my piano & looks fab. I can't be too much of a bossyboots if he's bought me that, can I?! Right, I'm going to clear up the purple-icing festooned worktop, darn up a hole, make a crumble & await the arrival of Mr F to help me unwrap this sofa.
We have been having various work done on our property since January 2020, so it is going to feel good to have a break from it now & get back to a sense of normality at least at home.....I think it's a given that things will not be 'normal' re covid & other UK problems for some time.

Happy Anniversary Mr and Mrs F. I bet your house will look lovely when everything's put back and what a great feeling to get another job done. We've had a fair bit done over the last 5 years and there's only the living room left to renovate now, although that's a job for next year.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6
