Another one hoping Foxgloves is well.6

Thanks m'dears for your concerns re my wellbeing. I have not been feeling at all well... was up on Tuesday night with significant gastric disturbance.... which carried on most of yesterday & was joined by a horrible headache from lunchtime. I had to take some codiene in the night & fetch a cold cloth for my head & got v little sleep. How is this connected to edamame beans? Well the only thing I could think of that I'd eaten on Tuesday that might have upset my innards was if edamame beans happen to produce gastric symptoms if undercooked. A bit of research & it seems that this is indeed the case. I really like them in salads & have always just brought them to the boil & gently simmered them for about 10 mins. These were a different brand though, so I'm wondering if the ones I usually buy have been par-boiled before freezing. These new ones were much firmer to eat after 10 mins of simmering & it seems that soy beans need thorough boiling as they contain similar substances to those in under-cooked red kidney beans which can make people really quite poorly. So I will be v careful with these in future. Have felt really lacklustre, no energy at all, as I suspect whatever the troublesome substance in these obviously under-boiled beans is has hindered food absorption. Turkey soup & a bread roll tonight followed by a small yoghurt. Am keeping it light!
Thanks for your good wishes. Nice to see all those today as I felt so awful by yesterday bedtime, I could have sat & cried. I think I'm on the mend now though. Tummy sore but seems to have calmed down.

It sounds as though you are looking out for yourself Foxgloves. It's horrible feeling unwell especially with the gastric variety as it's as if the body just shuts up shop and refuses to come out to play for a while. You are good at listening to your body though and I'm sure you will be back to yourself soon. Rest, rest and more rest I say xxCC1 Aug19 [STRIKE]£7587.85[/STRIKE] Aug 20 £0

I buy Mr M own make frozen ones and they’ve always been fine. I steam all my veg so they either get 20 minutes in the big electric steamer if I’m doing lots of other veg or 5 minutes on high in the microwave steamer if I’m doing one portion. Hope you feel better soon.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6

Oh dear that sounds very unpleasant 😣. I was quite worried about you when you went quiet for a day! I'm glad you're on the mend now

Thanks, HHoD. I have been feeling pretty bad to be honest, but I have really rested today. I've only made a loaf of bread, washed some dishes, fed the birds & done a little bit of piano practice. The rest of the day has been spent looking at old photos & watching TV. I'm hoping I will continue to pick up tomorrow & over the weekend. I find that an annoying side effect of gastric problems is that you can find it takes a couple of days for energy levels to return. I invariably get a headache too. Hoping for a better night' s sleep tonight & don't really need to go anywhere tomorrow.
