Hello m'dears,
Hope everyone is bearing up in the face of adversity. I am not in the best of humour today..... woke up early because my naughty gallstone was feeling uncomfortable, but was ok when I got up, so cracked on with cleaning the house & did three loads of laundry. We discussed next week's meal plans, wrote a very modest shopping list & Mr F decided to go & get the groceries. So far so good, but since then, we've discovered that 1)We are in Tier 4 from midnight (like most people, I imagine) 2) The new shed roof we only had fitted last January is leaking horrendously & is actually worse than it was before, & 3) We have a s*dding, bl**dy b*ggering mouse!!
We have form with mice in this house. Thankfully having lived in a couple of real student dives in the past (actually 'dive' is too generous a description for one of them, so I will replace it with 'actual hovel'), I have no fear of rodents, but obviously I don't want them indoors. We still have bait & other gubbins left from our previous mouse visitor. We had a serious infestation here, many years ago, so at least we feel we know what we're doing.
On the money front, a pleasingly cheap grocery shop today (including stewing beef which will be divided up & half of it frozen for a future meal) & I haven't been out at all, so no temptation.
I think I will cosy up with a hot water bottle now & finish my current library book.
Tier 4 commiserations across the miles to any of you newly affected. Honestly, this vaccine cannot get into arms fast enough as far as I'm concerned.
Your out-of-sorts diary friend,

I'm sorry about your tier 4 restrictions, shed roof and mouse Foxgloves. Bad things often come in threes so hopefully things will improve from now on! Great news to wake up to news that the Oxford vaccine has been improved though and it feels like a beacon of hope for the future, despite a harsh winter of restrictions ahead of us.Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Sympathise on tier 4 - I've been in tier 4 since last week and it appears to have made bug*er all difference to the behaviour of people round here. I was out on a walk this afternoon and at the entrance to the car park there were loads of clusters of people either meeting up saying hello or goodbye and see you soon. Whilst they were standing a little distant apart they were clearly mixing numerous households.Sympathies too on the mouse. Is it a little hint to prompt you into looking for a cat? Mind you my daft cat will wander in with a mouse in its mouth, I scream, he drops the mouse, mouse runs off, cat looks perplexed 🙀11

We are going into tier 4 as well. I’m hoping it won’t be for too long. I usually mind my GK’s whilst mum work, but as she has now been furloughed I won’t be having them. So going to give the house a good old clean. I won’t be taking my Xmas decorations down till Tuesday (12th night according to peeps on my fb group). Not suspicious but don’t want anymore bad look than is necessary. OH birthday is the beginning of April so hoping by then there will be more positive news on the virus.x:j Debtfree and and staying that way.:j3-6 month emergency fund, No.61 £140.0012

As I don’t live in my house very often due to work commitments, I have little plug ins which make a noise that rodents hate, and they seem to keep the fury friends from visiting 👍10

Another one here just gone into Tier 4 ☹️ Although it won’t make any difference to me to Tier 3 at the moment. Might be another story if I can’t get my hair cut at the end of January though. The Dulux dog look springs to mind 😬 As for the rodents, you need a cat or a Jack Russell, I have both just to be on the safe side 😁 I hope you feel better soon by the way.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)13

In one of our house we had mice and a dog. I threatened to swap him for a cat but DH wouldnt agree.
Now we have a Jack and had rats in the garden but not for long. She never caught one (she is 14 years old but still moves pretty quickly but cant keep it up for long) however they moved out fairly quickly. She even sits by the fence watching for next doors rabbits even though she cant see them and they are on the far side of neighbours garden.

We have some sort of rodent in one of the outside walls of the house. DD was in the bathroom and could hear scratching sounds coming from the wall. Not good for me after recently reading a book where part of the haunting was scratching sounds in the wall 🙀🙀there's definitely something moving from the bathroom wall down to the kitchen behind the washing machine because B has been sitting staring at that spot with laser like intensity, with her and two cats whatever it is won't last long if it ventures outOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,12010

Time for a new feline chum methinks foxgloves.
I have also woken up in tier 4 this morning, with very little clue as to what's going on with school next week. I expect my Head will know more than the government though so I'll wait for news from him before I panic.
Hope the gallstone is behaving itself today. Not giving up
