Hello my little festive brussels sprouts,
Expect everyone is having a busy day - staying warm, I hope. There's a cold wind getting up here & wintry showers expected anytime now. I've popped down to the greenhouse to get as much bubblewrap as I could find pegged around my big tropical plant.
Two stuffings made, pigs in blankets plus devils prepped, meringues made, turkey sewn up. Enjoyed listening to the lovely carols from Kings College chapel while doing that & singing along. I still haven't sewn my felt sprout kit so will do that tonight & watch some more old Christmas specials from our dvd collection.
Oh, I must just tell you this. We went to collect our turkey & veg from the village farm shop & I said to Mr F that we'd got everything on our list of fresh stuff, so no need to go to a supermarket. Well an elderly chap in there overheard me & struck up a conversation about how nice it was that he didn't need to go to the supermarket either. He said when his wife died, he had struggled a bit with food shopping, how much to buy, etc, so every week he sits down & plans exactly what he's going to eat, then only buys what he needs & doesn't waste food or money. I said I do exactly the same. I very much got the impression he's spending Christmas on his own, so I was happy to stop for a little chat. But it did make me smile that two complete strangers should strike up a conversation on Christmas Eve about the many benefits of meal planning! He talked about it in revelatory terms, & it was for me too, as Mr F & I used to fritter ridiculous sums of money on our budgetless 'foodie' food shops back in the Spendy Era.
Well, darkness has truly fallen outside. I'll be lighting a candle tonight for all those who are struggling at the moment, & hope very much that 2021 brings some welcome rays of light.
Peace & Love to you all this Christmas.
Foxgloves xx

You have snow, Dottles? I wonder if you live in vaguely the same region as me, as we are apparently supposed to be getting a few snow showers imminently. Are you anywhere near a big city which was very Coviddy & more recently had to call a halt to & pack up its Christmas market, I wonder.... Just going to have another peep out, in case any flakes have started falling.
