Oh Foxgloves....I am so sorry to hear about your cat.
My heart goes out to you. I know how a pet becomes a member of the family and leaves a gaping hole when they are no longer there. Take care. Xx

Lots of love Foxgloves. A nasty shock, although you know you absolutely did the right thing for him - and he had a fantastic life with you. They become such a part of the family and it's so hard when they're not about any more.

As you say foxgloves, the only consolation is knowing that he is no longer suffering. He was loved and loved you both in return. Not all of us will have such a good Aubituary. (((hugs)))I Believe.....

Thanks all. We have had a pleasant time doing a few garden bits. Mr F cleared the final raised bed so I planted out the celeriac. I gave my herb bed a bit of a renovation as bits of it were getting lost to a rosemary bush triffid. I cut it back hard, but took a few cuttings too, just in case I end up needing to replace it in the next couple of years. We also lifted the garlic. It looks really good - no trace of horrible allium leaf miner pest which has previously decimated our shallots, leeks & garlic. It is now spread out on a big tray to dry in the conservatory.
Decided to have a jacket potato night tonight to use up a few bits from the fridge & freezer, so I've cooked the last of the prawns which I'll have with coleslaw & salad on mine. Mr F has been on a full recce of the freezer & rounded up some leftover meat, ham jelly stock & other bits & bobs ready to make an Epic Man Stew to go with his. I don't intend to do any other jobs today. I am thinking Backside. Sofa. Gin. Chocolate. Couple of episodes of 'Cardinal'. That will do nicely.
Hope everyone is seeing at least a bit of this sunshine,

No sunshine here, it's grey and dark but at least it's not raining (heavily) like it has for the past 4 days!

Today was a pleasant day weather wise compared to the last few horrible days. Did you say you have made elderflower champagne Foxgloves? I made some the other day and this morning I strained it and put into bottles. Now says to leave for two weeks letting a bit of gas out every now and then. I had a little taste and didnt really taste of much, so not really holding out much hope of it being a success but then I suppose it could change in a few weeks?
Also had our first pickings of strawberries with lots more to come by the looks of things.Make £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... March... £65......April...£90.....May £20.....June £35.......July £607 -
Morning Kantankrus, No I've never made it. My experiments have been elderberry based, rather than using the flowers. I've made elderberry wine (decades ago, but it was good stuff), elderberry cordial & elderberry vinegar, so I don't know what elderflower champagne should theoretically taste like at this point. I think a lot of these foraging things take a bit of experimentation. It took ages before I made a nettle soup I was happy with & you could have grouted tiles with my sloe jelly! Hope it turns out ok.
I bet your allotment is looking good. My 2nd sowing of beans is just starting to germinate, so I have those to plant out when they're big enough, then it will just be a case of maintenance & re-sowing salads as necessary. Mr F lifted our garlic yesterday. Good stuff. We stopped growing alliums a while back as we lost too many crops to allium leaf miner pest. We didn't realise it was in our region, but it was & it is very damaging Do you have problems with it on your allotment? We grew our garlic under tightly woven insect mesh this year, so we are going to buy extra for future resumption of shallot & leek growing at some point.

No we dont suffer with that here. At least I dont think we do? lol
Yeah really pleased with allotment. Onions arent the best Ive grown (over wintered) so think I might concentrate more on spring planted ones next year. Not veg related but the thing Im so pleased about is my climbing rose that I planted last year. Ive done it in the hope it will go over my gate and its put on lots of growth and is full of the most beautiful yellow roses that are edged with a pale pink. Doesnt take much to make me happy.Make £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... March... £65......April...£90.....May £20.....June £35.......July £6012
