OBL - I'm knitting little hearts for my local hospital palliative care team. As there is no visiting allowed currently the nurses have appealed for sets of 2 knitted hearts. One heart is given to the patient who is at the end of their life and the other is given to the family as a symbol that their loved one didn't die alone. I'm not a very adept or fast knitter but I can do one a day and they don't use lots of wool. Maybe your local hospital or hospice might be doing something similar?9

Just to clarify, it doesn't take me a whole day to make one little heart. I can make one when I'm sitting down watching tv at the end of the day. 🥳6

That's a sweet idea, Blackcats.

Hello Diary Readers,
Well I haven't achieved much today. I haven't been for a walk. I've only been outside the door just for ten mins or so to move my agapanthus pots back into the greenhouse & peg some bubble wrap around my sweet peas to protect them from tonight's frost. I dealt with the leftover roast lamb this morning. I made some of it into lamb bhuna, & there's enough for spicy lamb pittas tomorrow & a pilaf on Weds. The rest of it was added to leftover gravy & veg and frozen, where it will doubtless form the basis of an Epic Man Stew at some point. I used the bones for stock & have a bowl of that cooling ready to freeze.
We continued with the games tournament this afternoon, which was fun. I won the 2nd round of Scrabble, so the next match will be the decider. I was surprised to lose Jenga. I have small hands, am quite nimble fingered & hadn't even so much as had the lid off the gin. I fully expected to wipe the floor with him, but got a bit cocky in going with dramatic flourish for impossibly tricky looking blocks, before falling victim to my own grabbyness & losing. We've both been saying that we should make more effort to get our various games out, as it's been a lot of fun.
I'm going to knit tonight, but the book I've just started is also quite tempting - 'The Girl in the Woods' by Camilla Lackberg. I've read several in this series. Maybe I'll concentrate on knitting, but aim to have an earlier night & take my book up to bed with me.
Mr F has to go into work tomorrow, but I have quite a few tasks I'd like to get done, so am planning to be busy.
Take care everyone,
F x

I love Camilla Lackberg, her books are brilliant. Well done on winning the second scrabble game, it's all to play for

Me too, HHoD. I like how they often interweave a modern day mystery with a similar one from the past.
I like Scandi-crime. One of my favourite series is 'The Oland Quartet' by Johann Theorin. I bought all four of the novels for my sister a couple of years ago & she really enjoyed them too.

Hi Diary Readers,
I don't feel as though I've done that much today. I've done two loads of laundry & got them dry outside in the sunshine, watered & fed all the houseplants, sown some dill & 18 assorted courgettes & squash, watered all my plant babies, posted some yeast to my sister, resurrected my journal, done 6 rows of knitting, topped up the pond & I'm going to mix up a sourdough in a minute.
I'm very much aware that I haven't done my usual Monday budget & banking update, but as April is marching on, I intend to do my mid-month budget check-in tomorrow morning, so I'll do it altogether. Oh, I did get another task done.... inspired by HHoD, I reorganised some sections of bookshelves & enjoyed both making some space & rediscovering things.
OK, must go & mix up that bread dough.
Cheers all,
