Hello Diary Readers,
Delighted to find that yesterday's niggly headache had vanished overnight. I've had quite a productive day on the whole. Mr F went off to the supermarket while I did my weekly house clean, bins, etc. He did the vacuuming when he got back, which was good as I didn't fancy slamming the Dyson about today. Watered all my seedlings & veg plantlets, mazipanned & decorated the Simnel cake I baked yesterday, cut a colander of spinach for tonight's slow cooker chickpea curry, placed a flour order with local windmill - it's collect only & won't be ready till the end of the month due to obvious high demand atm, but I can last until then if I'm careful with supplies, so that's fine.
I topped up the birdseed feeder.... which they promptly swung on & emptied all of the seed out onto the ground, & I tidied the pantry to make some space, but also to see how our stores are holding up. It's important to us that we don't start tucking into our emergency 3 weeks worth of supplies which we collated in the event that one or both of us becomes poorly..... but we made a quick assessment & our emergency supplies are still all present & correct, we'd just struggle a bit with fresh veg, so I've made a note of that & we can buy a couple of bags of frozen as back up.
And after all that, I decamped to my bench by the pond with a cup of coffee & my knitting, where I stayed till it was time to put plant babies to bed.
Just about to get my needles clicking again.
Oh.... & another 2lbs off today. Decided to get a weigh-in done before I cut that simnel cake.....
Stay safe all,

So... early results from my toilet roll usage study:
Last roll put on holder 5pm on 5th April. It ran out & was replaced this morning 10th April at 7am. So my test roll lasted for over 4 days. This shows I'm definitely using less as I was previously replacing rolls about every other day, which is ridiculous for a two-person household. Another factor is that Mr F is usually out at work full time. At the moment, he is working from home except for Mondays when he is expected to go in to enact various safety procedures. So despite there being an extra person at home for loo roll consumption purposes, it looks as though modifying my own wasteful usage should result in each pack of loo rolls lasting twice as long..... & the amount of money spent on them over a year thus being halved.
Lol, only on here could you post the results of a home loo roll economies study..... & know that people will read it!

Hot cross bun 1, slice of home baked simnel cake 1, waistline.... nil.
Hello Friends, Productive day here. Mr F up early & out to the local market with its few food stalls, all very much spread out & impeccable social distancing measures in place. Greenhouse day for me: Sorted out all my baby veg plants in terms of what I actually have space for. Surplus packed into two boxes for collection by sis-in-law. Have arranged to leave just inside front wall. If we want a conversation, it'll be from the front doorstep. Where was I? Oh yes, so I decided I can fit in 16 tomato plants so I potted those on & they will stay in those now until they are big enough for their final plantings. Pr*cked out a tray of verbascum seedings - another packet of seed found in Mum's understairs cupboard. Repotted a jalopeno chilli plant which I've managed to overwinter on a bedroom windowsill & divided up an aloe vera plant which had delusions of grandeur thinking it was a triffid. Also added some strawberry 🍓 runners potted up last year to my strawberry bed.
While all this planty activity was going on, Mr F was blitzing the shed. It looks 100 times better. He moved his two unwanted book units into there & I'm confident we could now go straight to whatever we happened to be looking for. There were a few money saving wins too - repurposing the units of course, but also finding other storage boxes to repurpose, rather than buying new. We also found all sorts of household cleaning & other DIY products we didn't know we had, so several things there that we won't need to buy for a good while.
Well, it is starting to get a little breezy now, so I must cover my greenhouse plant babies (only one layer tonight.... they're getting braver!) & will grab my cardi from where I slung it over a branch of our pear tree & will head indoors for the evening. I was planning to knit tonight, but I'm really enjoying my book (a mystery set in Cornwall) so I might read a few more chapters of that first. Mr F is cooking tonight so it's feet-up time for his dear wife, lol.
I'm not avoiding the news, but am only keeping abreast of it once a day. I'm thinking of everybody affected pretty much all the time. My heart is really with them. This dreadful time will pass, but we've a way to go yet & much heartache for many more people. I feel I'm doing nothing to help. Yet, at the same time, I know we are helping in the best way by staying at home. It just doesn't feel like much, compared with key workers.
Hope everyone is managing to stay well. Love to all,
F x

It's called 'The Death of her' by Debbie Howells - I didn't know this author. It's a library book from when I stocked up before lockdown.
