Happy New Year Foxgloves and everyone else on the thread whether you are poster or lurker.
Sorry to hear the lurgy is not doing one! Its horrible!!:eek:
I had a week of it just before christmas but touch wood seems to have gone.
Ive never known a year when I have heard so many people are poorly.
Not feeling it at the moment but I am back to my gym classes tonight. Stretch and torture so no doubt will be aching everywhere tomorrow. Ah well.....no pain....no gain.Make £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... March... £65......April...£90.....May £20.....June £35.......July £600 -
I think you goals are great Foxgloves and definitely achievable
. I'm delighted you're going to continue your diary as I find it very soothing and comforting to read as well as interesting. I totally agree about right wing trolls, they are undoubtedly sad losers sitting in their pants, so don't waste your precious time on them as they love attention and don't deserve to get any.
With regard to your lurgy, it sounds very similar to the one I had the last week of term. I had a sore throat, lost my voice, lost my energy and felt light headed and generally unwell. But no head cold, no runny nose, etc. I felt yukk for a week and then a bit better but not 100% for a second week. After the second week I developed a sickness bug so it's hard to say how good I would have felt in the third week! Anyway, I hope that after a week you'll feel a bit better as I did. Have you tried anaesthetic throat spray by the way? You can buy it in most chemists and if you spray the back of your throat with it then it numbs it, which does at least help me to sleep. I've used this one before and it does the job.

Hi Kantankrus,
My Mum used to say 'No pain, no gain' when I was little & used to demand rollers in my hair to make it curly, then moan all night that they were digging in & hurting!
Yes, lots of lergies around. I haven't had anything sort of coldy for ages, so I guess I should just be thankful for that & accept that with a modicum of self-care, most viruses do eventually go. I'd got all sorts of plans for when I got back from London......walks, visits.....& importantly, getting in lots of useful fitness activity in the garden. I had intended to get the last bits of my big borders cleared & dug over & to tackle the soggy leaf mountain at the side of the shed before I go a*se over tip in it on my way to the compost bins. Alas, I haven't felt up to doing any of that. We did manage one walk, but my energy levels were not up to much & I had to be bribed with coffee!
Hope your gym class isn't as bad as you are expecting. I don't do anything gym-related, but I know that when I haven't done any gardening for a while, my first big session leaves me properly stuff in my backside & thighs.......NOT that they both couldn't do with a damn good tightening up, of course!
It seems crazy that at the end of this month, I'll be sowing my chilli seeds. But I need to get out there & get moving. Sitting on the sofa eating crisps isn't a fitness activity, however much I might wish it to be so!

HHoD - Yes, that is almost exactly how I feel! I don't have the usual runny nose stuff, & it defo isn't flu because I don't feel ill enough & I pay for a jab every year since the 3 years I had flu every year after three decades of not having it at all! I haven't lost my voice, but if I was working (like you, I worked in the community with children), I think it would have gone. I have little energy & the light headedness is a bit like you get with flu but not as bad. It just feels as though the virus is in my head & my ears, sort of spiralling around. Hopefully it will soon start to go. I did have a couple of paracetamol this afternoon to get rid of the general aching & feeling too hot. I/m not a very good patient because I like to do things rather than sit around, but I've been working on knitting a bit more of my complicated jumper today, so at least I shall feel I've achieved something.

It IS soothing :T Like a gentle voyage through the seasons with some punchy rum thrown in for good measure.
Well I survived the stretch and torture but it was sooo hard
Cant believe how two weeks off gets you out the habit. You would have thought she would have done a gentle one for first class back but no such luck.
Best thing is I will sleep well tonight which I have been struggling with.Make £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... March... £65......April...£90.....May £20.....June £35.......July £600 -
I love reading your diary as you know - and I will be first in the queue for your novel when it's written.
Hope the lurgy has decided to retreat today, but not in this direction please - I am back to work next week. Not giving up

Kantankrus - Yes, it's always a surprise to me just how quickly fitness levels start to recede. My physical exercise is gardening, walking & getting from A to B on my bike. If I have even a lazy couple of weeks, I always feel it when my activities resume.

CCL - The lergy has improved a tidsy bit today. No change to the throat & I now have more of a cough, but my energy levels have been better.
Yes, I must get my book finished. No more excuses.

Your lurgy sounds similar to mine,I had the sore throat and felt really rough but no runny nose or cough,I sounded perfectly fine which was annoying because no one believed how ill I felt.......but it's finally gone.....hopefully it won't come back,I'm convinced it was the TCP gargle that cured mine.....always listen to your grandma 😀
I'm another one who finds your diary relaxing, it's soothing like a warm hug or hot chocolate in front of the fire 😊xxOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1200
