If prices dont come down then many FTB in my area will struggle. We have a decent enough deposit and decent jobs but the prices around there are just too high.
There are also council houses selling for between £115,00 and £140,000 in areas i wouldn't live in. (although i could afford it)
Im not a snob by no means (i grew up on a council estate) but i find it remarkable people are asking for these prices in such areas.
If prices rise any further then i can forget about buying a house. (had to take a 10% pay cut recently also)
I think NI experienced one of the biggest booms in prices but as yet i cant see that big a fall here.
I guess we will sit tight for another year, save more towards a desposit, and see what happens the market
I have a big enough lump sum which I've been saving for years. But I'm a single woman, so I guess there will be headache for me to have a house, because I have no idea about diy etc. I don't really know whether or not I should have a house.0 -
I found some council houses (80 years old) selling at 100k-110k here in WM. I checked the house price in the area and they has never dropped even in the bad time (2008-now).

Is there any reason for this?
Yes.
There is no money to support rising prices.
This time next year prices will be lower than they are now.

The frail residential property market has finally turned a corner, with values expected to rise by 2 percent by end-2010, against a projected 11 percent fall seen in June, indicative housing derivatives data shows.
Participants in Britain's property derivatives sector said the housing market revival was gathering pace as more homebuyers clamoured to purchase a thinning pool of available properties at record low interest rates.

Average UK house prices are expected to rise 1.3 percent by end of this year, the data shows, compared with August projections for a 1 percent fall.Residential derivative traders initially priced in an 'Armageddon factor' following the credit crunch and then gradually unwound the discount as the effect of the bailout and stimulus packages took hold," said Peter Sceats, a director at broker Tradition Property.0 -

It doesn't alter the fact that house prices have further to fall."The problem with quotes on the internet is that you never know whether they are genuine or not" -

I've never been in a better position to buy, I have more spare cash than ever before and a desire to get a property. I'm not the only one, in my neck of the woods at least decent priced houses are being purchased fairly quickly.
EDIT: Mind if I quote you in my sig? I miss brits one now and he won't say why he changed it. A bit of regular doom and gloom is what we need!0 -

I'd rather you didn't.
Not that I don't stand by it.
I used to have it as my sig. but it was frightening the HPI cheerleading debt-junkies.
So I removed it out of good will."The problem with quotes on the internet is that you never know whether they are genuine or not" -

Yep I think shakerbaby is still rather upset by the revelations. One of our own, a bear, an ex-debt-junkie.
It's like the booze though.... you can never be free.....
