Happy Birthday to gers, scarlet ribbons albeit a late greeting and Lainey.

Thinking of HollyHarvey and hoping she will soon be back with us and feeling better.

Middle dd has a birthday tomorrow and we are going for lunch and a shopping trip on Wednesday.. February seems to have been an expensive month with several lunches out, a hotel stay and two birthdays as well as a few spur of the moment purchases for future grand daughter due in late July. I have just checked the online bank account to make sure I am all right and will try to sit on my hands for the next two days.

I was looking for the christening dress I sewed years ago and put away safely and could not find it so decided not to panic and just steadily check drawers etc over the next few months. I did find the smallish patchwork cot cover I had sewn by hand and am going to hand wash it gently. There is a bit of residue from an iron on the reverse side which I want to get rid of if I can so will throw various remedies at it. If the treatment does not work then a judicious strategically placed bit of applique (or bits) should do the job.

There was a little snow here but it is not lying although more snow is forecast over the next few days. I have leek and potato soup to snack on and a gammon steak with an egg and baked beans for lunch with fish to bake for tonight. Can't face going out so put a pedometer round my neck and will try to move more round the house.
I am not sure of the safety of the window by the staircase extension so will phone the window person sometime this week and make sure it gets checked out and fixed if needed.

    Judi

I am so sorry you had a wasted journey especially in the cold and snow especially as it means you have more worry about prodigal.

Sitting in a warm living room and keeping an eye on the weather and looking out for deliveries etc.

    Hugs to all

Think I can make an educated guess!

Many thanks for all the birthday wishes folks, lovely to read.

And my own 'happy birthday' wishes to Lainey :bdaycake: for today and all those whose birthdays have just gone. One of my nephews asked how old I was (at 3.30a.m. this morning from Oz) - I just replied 'will you still feed me, will you still need me' - he didn't get the reference! :rotfl:

My cards and parcels were great, just wee knick knacks and what we call 'mindings'. Teaching was easy for a change, the students like the unit they are doing this semester and the meter man has just been.

Now it's time for cake and champagne, my very own tradition which I started four years ago and one that I fully intend to follow. I took some cake into college, the one I made yesterday, and shared it with my colleagues. Luckily I have more here for me.

Judi - what an blooming annoyance after all the effort and worrying you did.

I've got the wood burner on already, that wind is nasty. So far no snow or rain.

I hope everyone is safe and warm.
  • Gosh these birthdays are coming in thick and fast today! Happy Birthday to LAINEY too!

In view of the severe weather now forecast to carry on till the weekend we have been down to Aldi to stock up on a few more supplies, Mainly milk 'cos if we have the 3 girls full days, if schools are shut, they soon go through the big bottles. Any not needed will go in the freezer or used to make rice puds. It was quite busy for a Monday in Aldi so it looks as if a few more people had the same idea.

Aw JUDI I am sorry about your wasted trip. Until prodigal is ready to help himself there is no more you can do is there.

We have had a few snow flurries this morning and a biting wind and now ready for whatever is thrown at us when the Beast from the East arrives.

    Take care all xx

Thank you for all your birthday wishes.

Our brunch out was lovely, we went to our local farm shop who have a smashing cafe, it was surprisingly busy for a Monday morning but perhaps people had the same idea of us about going out earlier rather than later. It starrted snowing lightly as we sat there but by the time we got back home it was a blizzard and its still coming down. The ground was dry so it’s laying and the sky looks full of it.
No matter, we have nowhere especially urgent to go for the next few days and are happy to hunker down and see the weather out. If I can’t make it over to the stables I know that my girlie will be well cared for and she has plenty of her hay left.
One of my pressies from DOH was an Almanac for 2018 and one of the old country sayings for February was “ as the days lengthens so the cold strengthens “ pretty much bang on I’d say.

    Afternoon all
    Rant alert.
Well what a disaster of a day !
Everything in Tes*o was cheaper everywhere else, the lunch was too long in arriving and then the fish wasn't cooked ( in all fairness it wasn't ) so it went back. The coffee was cold and now the headphones Dad wanted ( because Mr Fix It has some ) won't work with his TV, so we have to have another trip down there to return them..
All I got was some milk and a migraine, Mr Fix It got a stress rash and a lecture on tomatoes .
Sorry just needed to get that off my chest.

Nelski hope you have a better shopping trip with your Mum
I'm glad the birthday girls are having a lovely day. Please have a few drinks for me too.
Dumpling I hope that you and your girls are feeling a little better now.
I hope all the poorlies get better soon.
Take care all, I'm off for a lie down in a darkened room :rotfl:.

Hoppy Birdday wishes for Lainey and Gers and slightly late ones for Scarlet Ribbons.

Had a long talk with Mr LW last night; I've apprised him of what our poor friend Holly has been put through; and he's agreed to be very careful what he says around any medical bods when he takes me for any appointments, lest the same fate befall me. I have already survived two major breakdowns, and I can feel myself slipping towards another. Now, I recognise the signs, and am reasonably confident that, with Mr LW's help, I can head this off at the pass - but the idea that the Powers That Be can summarily haul someone's a$$ off to hospital in that way is doing nothing to aid me.

I have for a long time felt a mite aggrieved that I just get fed Moclobemide for my MH problems and am otherwise left to get on with it, but in view of recent events, perhaps it's a good thing - if I'd agreed to having CMHT people visit the house when they suggested this a few years back, I might have been hauled off a long time ago! As it is, part of my issues is dealing with visitors (or indeed any other human beings), so I didn't agree to having them come.

Suzie the Cavalier King Charles as gone home; I don't have another guest til 10th March, so it's going to be a long 12 days.
I do have a meet'n'greet to do on Saturday; hoping the snow either doesn't materialise or has come and gone by then, as I particularly want to take this one for a trial walk, which I cannot do if there's snow on the ground, as I can't use the mobility buggy in the snow.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
