Not been able to post for a while, but wanted to drop by to say:-

Happy birthdays to GERS and LAINEY and belated greetings to SCARLET RIBBONS.

JUDI - so sorry about all your wasted effort in respect of the prodigal.

HOLLY - I keep thinking of you and hoping that you are being cared for well and kindly.

JACKIEO - condolences to you and your family.

We have had a few flakes of snow, but the sun is shining brightly, the birds are eating me out of house and home, but I just love watching them all, not seen any visits in the last few days from Woodie woodpecker or the squirrel though.

Book to return to library, one to collect and a few errands before the snow comes, local radio keeps forecasting some for us, how much, well we have to wait and see. Well stocked with food for us, the dog and the birdies though. (I have problem ankles and hate walking on the ice, OH is great, but I don't like feeling trapped indoors)

Hugs and spoons and keep warm wishes all.

    Happy Birthday Gers :bdaycake:
    ScarlettR Happy Belated Birthday _party_

Now don't all faint because I'm early ! But over the road neighbour was having trouble with his van early this morning. Mr Fix It thinks his brakes were stuck on, so much banging and swearing ensued . My it's icy out there even though the sun is out.
Somehow we have a passenger for today's trip to get a milk top up........ Dad !. How that happened I don't know because the last time we took him to Tes*o even I lost my rag with him . Anyway I will know that he has enough bread etc in case we get snowed in. Bet DD and family are praying for it, as it's first day back to school after half term :D.
Right I'd better get myself sorted, ready for the shopping spree as I expect Dad will need to look at everything ( he won't buy anything, just look in case there's a bargain to be had... there never is as everything is always cheaper at Morries :()
Judi hope all goes well today.
Holly hope you are ok and getting any help that you need.
Hugs to all and have a good Monday.

    Good morning everyone :hello:

I had a rubbish night's sleep due to aching joints which kept waking me up. I felt quite teary due to being over tired but I have managed to get an hour on the sofa already and have had a big cup of coffee so I will be ok now I think.

My lovely cmht lady is coming this afternoon to help me make a phone call to start the PIP process off. I have had several PM's from various people offering advice which was really lovely.

We are down to our last pound on the electric meter so that will be a priority to go and get the key charged up at the post office. I will brace myself to walk down there in a minute once the school run people have finished.

Happy Birthday Gers, hope you have a lovely day today xx
Belated Happy Birthday to you Scarlet Ribbons xx
Oh and a very Happy Birthday to you Lainey xx

March is peak time for birthdays for me as my grand daughter, and 2 of my daughters were born in March. It all gets a bit expensive as there is also Mothering Sunday as well.

Judi, I am sorry that Prodigal didn't turn up for his appointment, especially when you went to all the trouble of arranging to meet him there. It must be so hard when you want to help him so much and he isn't ready for it. Hugs for you xx

I have gammon steak defrosting for tea and I will cook up some baby potatoes to go with them. I will probably make a cauliflower cheese as well.

Becky is staying home today as she is very volatile and needs a calm environment today. It's a bit disappointing and the school will not be happy but she comes first and if she hurt someone today the consequences would be awful for everybody involved.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx
  • Sorry LaineyT I missed that it was your Birthday too.
Many Happy Returns of the Day :bdaycake::beer:

  • Judi sorry I missed that your son didn't turn up.
Obviously I'm no good at posting / reading post early in the mornings, so I'll have to revert to being late all the time :rotfl:.

:bdaycake:Happy Birthday, and more cake for Gers,ScarletRibbons and Lainey. We had cake on Friday for DHs 65th,and more with the DGC on Saturday.Had a lovely weekend,Greek meal with friends on Friday,Indian takeaway with DSons and DGC on Saturday,a trip to the park with the children, and yesterday DH and I had a lovely walk round a local beauty spot/reservoir.It was busy with families and so many dogs of all shapes and sizes enjoying the weather. We couldnt take Ly la,her dodgy back leg isnt up to long walks :(

We were all asked to move our cars from the front of the cottages by 8 this morning as they are shutting the road where they did all the work last year for the flood repairs/defences,just something to do with the manhole covers ,but no one has showed up yet .

I've been checking what meals I have in too,in case I dont want to go out later in the week.We have had some fine sprinkles of snow this morning.I havent got that many spuds in but am starting LCarbing again this morning,as is DS2 so wont need that many anyway, and I've got some big sweet potatoes in too.

Camelot-glad the 'talk' went well and hope harmony hasbeen restored for your family.
Judi, sorry P didnt turn up-I can understand why you're mad.

Stay warm & safe everyone & hope you have a good day x

  • Hi chums and may I wish all our birthday lasses a very Happy Birthday and hopefully you have all been quaffing down something nice, and eating lots of cake Birthdays are just made for cake aren't they. I have some chocolate cake from my DGS Jacks birthday on Saturday to eat up (well you know how I hate to see anything wasted :):):)

Two funerals to go to in March:( My late mum always said things come in threes:( I have already been to one this month already.

Today if I can get off my drive (snowing at the moment ) I have to take Jack to his dental appointment after lunch.I am hoping this white stuff doesn't hang around too long .Best news I have had this week was my eldest DD said DGS Danny has to fly home from New York tomorrow for business meetings in London and will be down in Kent on Wednesday night (snow willing) so we are going out for dinner .Its almost a year since he went to NYC to live and I am looking forward to seeing him. Its snowing quite a bit at the moment but I have my fingers and toes crossed it won't stop him from getting down to us.

Right ,time to get a move on as lots to do this morning.

Hope everyone has a good day and are warm and dry and hopefully not too snowed in

    Cheers chums

    JackieO xx

    Good morning all,

Happy Birthday Gers and Lainey and belated Happy Birthday to ScarletRibbons.

Judi after all that effort and worry too. At least you know that you're doing your best to help.

It's trying to snow here - we had 10 minutes of it at about 9:30am. I went food shopping straight after the school run so we have plenty of everything if it actually succeeds. The HT is hoping for snow so that school closes. We only live a 15 minute walk away but obviously his teachers live a bit further afield.

My next job is to make cupcakes for the HT and friends. Until Saturday it had been such a long time since I made anything other than 2 small Christmas cakes because my leg hurt if I stood still. It seems alright now - there is a very small bit of the wound still open but that should heal over soon. The HT has greeted the cake making with much enthusiasm.

    Take care all of you

Happy birthday, Gers, Lainey and (belatedly) Scarlet Ribbons

Dumpling, this time of year is expensive for us too. DH starts it off, it was DD's on Friday, Dil's this coming Sunday, then Mother's Day and my birthday is St Patrick's day. Sil rounds it all off in early April. It's my 60th and the whole family will be going away to a cottage in the Cotswolds. There have been lots of secret squirrel phone calls and messages flying round and I am trying to avoid accidentally overhearing or seeing one so that I don't spoil any surprises.

Judi, I'm sorry Prodigal didn't turn up, especially for him that he won't be getting the help he needs.

Did a Lidl shop this morning so we are well stocked up. I love the snow but don't want it because DS drives such a distance to get to work and now he lives in the fens near Ely I worry about the roads. Lainey, let me know if it snows over there please.

We've got Ziggypup this week. She really is a delight, so entertaining to watch her playing with her toys and racing round the garden. DH has just taken her out for a walk, brr.

I'm determined to get some serious sewing time in this week, I'm feeling quite deprived.
