Just having 5 minutes as my forehead is leaking in to my eyes :o

DS's bedding has been changed and new pillows are in place. I've emptied his bin, and scrubbed the door handle and light switch in his room  I've scrubbed the stair banister (double ), put down the new bath mats, unloaded WM and put washing on radiators/ airer, reloaded WM,... there are literally 1001 things I should do next before this hovel looks remotely loved :( The irony is I do love being at home: it's my favourite place in the world but you'd never guess by looking at it.

Right - I'm going to splash my face with cold water, get changed out of my cleaning (raggy) clothes, and have some toast.

    And breathe ....

  • Slow morning here. Woke up to find both felines snoring on the bed within six inches of one another. They must have been cold, despite my reluctantly leaving the heating on low overnight. But good on Himself for not shutting them out.

He called today my Snow Day. Didn't have the energy to try explaining to him that if you're not supposed to be in work, it doesn't count, it's just a weekend where it's harder to go out than usual.

Wandered downstairs this morning (he was asleep and is still in bed, naturally) to find that he'd made an effort to stack the plates used for the last two days on the hob. After retrieving 6 mugs which had been done rather than rinsing the same one out each time before washing it up, I found the pan had been shoved in the bowl, so the entire thing is now stained with orangey grease. [Sigh]. And the countertop had been covered with packets of biscuits, jam, tins of things and a bag of pasta. Not abandoned, deliberately put there. So they got shoved in the cupboards. And thousands of crumbs were cleared off the countertop.

Decided to make a start on washing after discovering the second linen basket was full to the top but hidden in the studio. We're out of washing powder. I asked him last week whether we were getting to the end of the box (so I knew whether to play an order - I only order deliveries when we need that and cat food) and he quite clearly said 'no, we've got tons'.

So I'm going to have another cuppa and then venture out in search of washing powder, washing up liquid, possibly a new washing up bowl and brushes and some psoriasis bath stuff, as my skin feels like it's flaring up again - it's very dry and I've been a bit itchy. Just have to hope that the town's panic buying didn't extend to getting the washing done. By the sounds of the traffic, everything's pretty much got back to normal on the main roads, so I'll just have to be careful getting to them.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

Had a lovely lie in; eventually got out of bed at 10.45!! Snow seems to be melting here; just hope it doesn't freeze later but don't think it's meant to. Got a load in the WM. Should be a spend free day again today which is good news as we're major skint now; just hoping J actually starts his job in April (had interview in November but needs high level security clearance).

Going to have a tidy up around here today; just make it look a bit better as then that makes me in turn feel better!

ATB your kids are well trained! Whiz Whippet won't go out apart from to go to the toilet; not even worth trying to walk him. He doesn't do cold weather!

Jazee tough when GUAG goes isn't it - I've had a week of that and it's rubbish. I'm tempted to do some sewing today; haven't done anything for almost a year and miss it - machine and overlocker here beside me so no excuse apart from just not had the time for it. Sometimes you need to make time for things that make you happy though don't you.

Dizzy glad you got your delivery and good luck with all the tip runs! Why do little ones stick stuff up their noses?

Iona well done you on your epic journey! Horrid feeling seeing cars sliding back towards you isn't it; you sit there helpless. Tailgaters are a real pain; I just go at the speed I'm happy with and that's that.

Lynne well done on your paperwork sort out!

Iona that journey sounds well scary - but kudos to the local folks helping push cars over the icy patch.

It appears to be thawing a bit - the icicles hanging from the gutter are dripping, and when I went to attend to the birds' feeding station, I got a load of water dripped on me off the trees at the back of the garden (there's an "ancient hedge" of elder, hawthorn etc behind the rear fence). I defrosted their lollipop, topped up the seed dispensers and put a couple of scoops of seed on the ground, so hopefully they'll be ok.

NDN called round with a box of Th0rntons for us, as a thankyou for putting up with the noise, mess and being blocked into our driveway while they had a problem with the gas pipes sorted out - apparently they had a new gas fireplace put in, during which it was discovered that Buggalugs who had their bungalow before and did the loft conversion, built the garage and moved the front door, had concreted over something he shouldn't have, that contravened building regs, so it had to be put right.

Bedlinen changed, dirty stuff currently in WM. Mr LW is doing the bathroom (thoroughly, I hope).

Scrimpers: Another NSD.:T Mr LW is even foregoing his newspaper (he usually has the Saturday T£legraph) because it's still 6" deep in snow and I said I thought it foolish to venture out for just a newspaper til some of the snow has melted.

Meet'n'greet with Dusty Dog now set for Thursday afternoon - fingers crossed. ;)

Have you now left/been made redundant and done your last day for your old employer, Jazee? If so, I hope they marked it sufficiently.

Very scary car journey, Ionafan. I hope you're feeling a lot better today.

Fayolle, the odd thing about Frogs is that once you get started it usually turns out that they're nowhere near as bad to deal with as we'd thought. Well done on tackling it and doesn't it feel marvellous now it's done!

Much to my surprise I've done an H2H thing that's been annoying me for months in the attic and that's a big pile of stuff dealt with that won't be cluttering the place up any more. Things look a lot better and I can take a photograph and put a box of jars on Gumtree. If no-one wants them they can go for recycing. *fling*
    Better is good enough.

Yes HB, all finished now at the paid stuff. I have a large present for the garden which is currently in the living room as I don't want it to die in this weather.

I found my GUAG and spent 3 hours slowly cleaning the kitchen and then messed it up a bit making lunch. Have also had a quick walk with the dogs.
Spend less now, work less later.

Scrimper checking in to report a no spend day :money:

DH has gone out to visit a mate so it's just me and the kiddies. Had another dog walk, scoffed lunch and tidied the kitchen. The fire is roaring now, and no great plans for the rest of the day other than bathing DS at some point. I am planning a tip run tomorrow so may load the car up for that

finally back from swimming lessons.. we had to stop at shoe shop for Squeak to wee, then picked up my prescription which the drs surgery had sent the worng thing.. clever my gp surgery.. NOT!!! and then to opticians to change Squeaks appointment.

I put on both WMs and the TD before I left so I have those to hang up when I can bear to put weight on my hip again. I dropped the top bunk on my hip and lower back on Thursday.. The pain is so bad I feel quite nauseus. Of course, despite the crashing of falling bed and shouting in pain noone in the house came to help me or to see if I was ok.. anyway.. I'm not!

I have decided on paint and stuff for the bathroom and DD3's room and they are necessary spends too.. the room the boys were in is utterly disgusting.. badly marked walls, mould from condensation, scraped paint, webs, plain old filth.. (they are 18 and 22 I do not tidy their room!!) and it absolutely honks... The curtains were binned so DD3 has a fleece hung up.

I binned 5 binbags of rubbish from that room without a second thought.

The light fitting is broken so that, being electrical is again a necessary expense so that is £25 on Tuesday. I have chosen new bedding for her (purple velvet) but that is coming from ebay sales, I don't make the sale I don't buy the stuff. The room needs a door as it doesnt have one and when ebay sales allow she is having a new bed but in the meantime she needs a lat replacing.

The one good thing.. because the boys are such pigs the floor was always covered in goodness knows what so the carpet is still like new!

  • Washing powder located underneath the kitchen table  so I didn't have to go out in the end. He finally got up at about 1pm, made a cuppa and then disappeared back upstairs.

Just announced that he's been 'adjusting the action' on one of the bass guitars.

That's nice, dear. Did it not occur to you to mention that TO THE PERSON WHO LITERALLY DOES THIS FOR A LIVING before you started dikking about with it? Seeing as his problems are largely caused by using a completely different gauge of strings to what it had been set up to use, I sincerely hope he's not touched the neck/truss rod, as sorting that out could be a damn sight more expensive than just buying a different set of strings would have been.

White stuff is rapidly disappearing outside - I can see how sad and damp the back garden looks again.

Awww Roundtuit have a hug x Could DS not have sorted his own room or at least helped? I swear the GF won't be that bothered and presumably DS is old enough to be responsible for some of the house work.

Dog walked, laundry dealt with, shopping bought and put away, couple of hours paid stuff ticked off. Trying to read but keep nodding off. Might make a start on some curry.
