I would agree that banks all make business decisions but are NS&I the same?ValiantSon wrote: »There isn't a planned rate rise in February. There is a lot of speculation that there ill be a rate rise, but it has not been planned. The decision is taken at the meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of England. If rates do rise then that rise may result in changes in savings rates, but it may not; it all depends on the banks' perceptions of the market and whether they need to offer higher rates to attract customers, and what rates would represent a good business decision. So they may put rates up, but they may not.
Are NS&I independent of the Treasury or are their business decisions influenced by the Chancellor?0 -
The NSI "bonds" are ordinary fixed term savings accounts.
How safe do you really expect investing in unbuilt holiday homes in Southeast Asia through an unknown company to be? On a scale of 1-10, it's going to be about 100.0 -
I am asking to hear your voice about all ideas having in mind as some of you might came across property investments in Asia .0

Bonds can be investment products and bank savings accounts. The Government issues investment bonds but NS&I is a government body that issues savings bonds. Even worse, they issue a savings bond and call it an investment bond!Actually when asking about interest change I meant how this could affect bonds interest change not interest on savings accounts at banks.
What about investing money in property like that ones , is it safe ?:

You really need to research these products to avoid choosing one that you do not fully understand.
This is also true of investing in property. You must ensure that you seek direct advice rather than using forums such as this.0 -

I know this is just speculaton but do you personally think Brexit will eventually happen? I am asking this question because observe more and more public support to remain in the EU.0
