Why aren't cars speed limited?

So the UK has got this right, while Denmark, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, and the US, are wrong?
I beg to differ. Drivers in the UK break the speed limits because they believe there are arbitrary and inappropriate. Bring in appropriate limits for the roads and weather, and people are more likely to respect them.
The policy of not normally prosecuting someone doing 79 on a motorway only goes to emphasise how nonsensical our limits are currently.
All I said was "That's the limit, like it or not"
And "It's not likely to change"
Arbitrary. Yes. Wrong compared to other countries. Who knows?
Drivers break the speed limit not because of where it's set, but because they think they know better, they think they are better drivers, and have better cars.
I you set it at 150mph, someone would still break the law by going faster.
Protest against the speed limit or campaign to get it changed by all means.
The speed limits are law, and are normally an absolute.
It's not for the individual to break the law simply because they don't agree with it.0 -
You just know the OP just sits in that middle lane never going above 70.
I certainly do. I'm worried about wearing out my indicator bulbs, so by sitting in the middle lane I don't need to keep indicating to overtake lorries in the slow lane, but anyone who wants to go faster than my steady 60mph can use the fast lane. That way I'm not causing anyone any issues and I can just switch-off and listen to the radio.0 -

Similar happened again on a recent trip. This time after a mile or so of an idiot tailgating me, I took my foot off the accelerator and slowed to 20. I kept at 20 while he was getting all irate with signals and horn, eventually he backed off slightly so I speeded back up to the limit. He started tailgating again. So I started slowing down again, but after slowing down just a little he backed off and gave me some space.0 -

So which lane is the fast lane?
All lanes have the same speed limit.0 -

So you are happy to berate people for breaking one law but are happy to break another?
Anyone who "switches off" whilst driving is an idiot.
But of course this is just a troll post designed explicitly to get a reaction. :T0 -
