sounds like they have treated you fairly. But KwikFit are a fast fit tyre and exhaust place why trust them with other car repairs.
VW cars are noted for wheel bearing failure and nowadays the components are sealed with ABS rings as part of the unit.
Always love these posts with the "I am a woman" being included. Equality when it suits women, special treatment when it doesn't!

Find a small quality local garage and use them.

In my experience some Kwik Fit staff are OK and some branches are OK,...
I agree. When I had a company car, we had to use KF.

Some branches were really good. Some were dire.

Sounds to me like they diagnosed the fault and saw you as a time waster for taking it elsewhere. A lot of places will take a quick look for free so the admin staff probably assumed no diagnostic kit was used and they just have it a quick once over.

Their prices have never been that cheap anyway but certainly doesn't sound like they tried to fleece you at all - which makes a change for them.

Yet despite treating you fairly they've still come under fire. Double edged sword sometimes

Agreed. I have a company car ... last one and this one are both through ALD who mandate using KF. Previous car was through Arval who used other suppliers.
  • It was a plausible diagnosis. there is a sensor, it counts little magnetic lines on the oil seal of the bearing. It's quite possible that the sensor is faulty, also the reluctor ring / oil seal may be damaged too. It's also possible that there is a bad connection in the plug where the sensor plugs into the main harness, in fact it's the most common fault........

surely air is already 78% nitrogen - i bet they would try and charge for a full tyres worth of nitrogen when they only need to replace the 22% that isn't nitrogen

Haha i hope your joking and don't actually think they are able to remove only the 22% of air in the tyre that isn't Nitrogen and replace only that!.

Oh yeah, Kwikfit did add Nitrogen to my tyres for £1 extra without asking.
Yeah. 'course they did, an extra 4 or 5 quid for . . absolutely nothing :T

Are you suggesting I was 'easily led' . If so you don't know what that means.
They charged £1 extra (not 4 or 5 quid) without asking me.
But then it was a Sunday and an emergency tyre replacement, so I didn't have any choice.
Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.

Yes you did, they allegedly put something in your tyres without asking you or your permission, the choice was to have told them I am not paying for that.
