I think search references only work for the person who made the search. (If I follow you link I get "Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.").

What exact search terms did you use?

The link did not work for me this morning!

Anyway all I searched for was New Sat Nav

I have amended my original post to show four direct links.

Personally I wouldn't be without my Garmin sat nav.

Same here. I think the battery is next to useless, but that doesn't matter since I always use it plugged into the cigarette lighter socket.

It is several years out of date, as it regularly reminds me when I turn it on, but all this means is a few speed limits will be wrong as they're regularly being lowered (sneaky rant) to enable the police to generate more income from the unwary, and some new housing/streets will be missing.

If I wanted it to find my way on to new estates it would be useless, but for day to day travelling between long established locations it's quite adequate.

I use my phone with Waze or Google Maps in use and connected via bluetooth so its played through the speakers. We do have a Garmin that was from Aldi which cost about £100 but not used by me.
  • I am needing a new sat nav, I think the internal battery of my old one is on the way out. The one before that went like it too, and its an old Tom Tom and difficult to replace I think.
I've got an old navman with a useless battery that works fine when connected to a decent charger. I've also got an older tom tom that when used for 2-3 hours goes flat. The problem was the charger. I was using a cigarette lighter 1 amp usb charger and now fitted a 3 amp usb charger.

My oldest Tom Tom will not stay on more than a minute or two even when connected to the correct charger.
The other one has a grey screen to start with, even when connected to the charger, once it warms up its ok but I thought it might eventually let me down when I needed it, which the other one did, so I wanted to get one just in case but thank you.

Thanks guys, but as most of you seemed to be pointing me in the direction of sat nav on my phone, which I DON'T want. Or not giving me model numbers to look at, I found this on an old thread on here, so have bought it. Its cheap and hopefully cheerful. It seems to have everything I want and even if it doesn't last, I haven't spent a fortune on it. I would have prefered a bit bigger screen but you can't have everything. The reviews are better than on a lot of the big names, so I'll give it a try.

Satnavs are prone to battery fatigue, both my prior Tomtoms batteries failed at about 2 years. I extended their lives by replacing the batteries, cost circa £10, however identifying and soldering in the replacement is a faff.

    Thanks for locating this one.
    I'm also after a stand-alone sat-nav (I don't want one on my phone either).
I've been looking around for a few months and couldn't find one cheap enough to suit me.
I think I'll take a punt and get one of these ready for when we go away.

At least it isn't just a Truck satnav ... cars will be able to take routes that trucks can't. ;)

I'm sure you're aware that this will likely drop-ship from China, so any RMA process will likely mean shipping back to China? (The clue is in the quality of spelling and grammar in the listing).
