yup it is 1.5, but has come up as spyware doctor.
There are fake "Spybot" programs around. That's one of the reasons why I recommended you get rid of the copy already on the computer and download a definitely genuine copy from Safer Networking.

As you can't access the net at all have you tried unplugging the router, resetting it, rebooting the computer etc?

I have never posted a link to spyware doctor, only to Spybot on the official safer networking site.
 Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:

I'm not having a go, espresso, far from it! I did use your link http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=6492495#post6492495

but when I opened it on the laptop I somehow ended up with the doctor thing, and it was too late then. I had to go through a few prompts and found navigating the download quite confusing, normally even I can manage things like that!

Would her own antivirus software interfere or something? I used the link to make sure I didn't end up with a fake, as I wouldn't recognise it.

I appreciate all advice on here and am not being critical, just confused!

pchelpman - I brought her lappie home with me , and it doesnt have a wirelesscard so I have to download from her house. Now she said she doesnt need the spyware, she's been OK so far!:wall:
