That's a bit like stating that you paid £10 for a pewter tankard 14 years ago and it's still going strong but the Waterford crystal glass that you paid £50 for 3 years ago and which has been used every day has broken.
Higher prices don't always mean that something will have a longer life than cheaper goods. Just look at the prices of some of the designer clothing and accessories that are on sale.0 -

Its not as though one is a titanium band, they are similar rings, one was an engagement ring, the other eternity. Similar, albeit not exactly the same, the cheaper, in theory shouldn't/wouldn't last as long, don't have the receipt to hand as so old now, but pretty sure, its also 9ct Gold with a CZ on it, as good as the day we bought it0 -
Look at it this way - the ring has already devalued from £300 to £279 in the course of this thread. You can now get it fixed for a TOTAL of £304 - that's basically only £4 for the repair based on the ring's price at the start of this thread.0
