Text from EE but with 3

Probably an error?
Or a phishing scam if there was some kind of link to click etc.0 -
No link to click, but I guess there could be follow up texts with links, this could be a setup text?0

Got a text from EE saying my settings have been updated and to restart my iPhone but I!!!8217;m with 3, anyone had this and know what!!!8217;s it about? I don!!!8217;t have any products with EE.
This ruse buys them some time. While you try to work out what is going on, they have made hours of calls from your SIM (now installed in their phone) to premium rate numbers that they have set up and earn revenue share from.
They make hundreds of pounds from calls which appear on your next bill, charges that will be difficult to dispute because of the delay in reporting theft of SIM. If they had taken the handset as well, you would realise sooner that the SIM is missing.0 -
Take the SIM out of the phone and physically look at it. There have been instances where someone has stolen a contract SIM from a phone and replaced it with a pay-as-you-go SIM with limited or no top-up included.

This is a reason for having set up a SIM PIN and turning on SIM change protection (if your phone has it).0 -

Update- I have recieved 3 calls today from people saying they had a missed call from my number, one said he was buying something from a sales site, I asked if he may have missed pressed or did he press to return the call, he said he pressed to return the call, also one of my text contacts, all of their messages have disappeared?
I rang three today and they have said to reset network setting.
Not sure if this will help?
Sounds to me someone is using the same number as me, or they are using my original number, as when I joined 3 I ported my old number over, is this even possible?0 -
What happens when people call your number? Does your phone ring?
Can you see your number in the phone settings?0 -
I can see my number.
I asked the last caller that rang after I took the advise from 3 to reset settings, what number did he have for the missed calls and he read out my number?
Very strange and 3 were of little help as I got cut off twice and finally got to speak with someone that clearly was only reading a script of the screen.0 -
From your mobile phone, call another number and ask the person you called to read back the number shown on their screen. Check it is the correct number.
Use another phone to call your mobile number and make sure that it is your mobile phone that rings. Try it with your mobile phone switched on, and then try it again with your mobile phone switched off and check the call goes to voicemail and is not answered by someone else. Then turn your mobile phone on and retrieve that voicemail.
It is not unheard of for the same phone number to end up with two different providers due to porting issues. There was a very long thread on this just a few weeks ago.0 -
Another update- well i rang EE and they have confirmed they have issued my number to one of their customers, they say Three must of released the number for them to have it to reissue, they were very helpful but said only 3 can fix the problem, so I rang them...
What a nightmare, a non Uk based call centre, I have rang 3 times and live chatted twice and each time they are totally useless, saying it can’t happen and the people that ring me must be only misdialling, I keep telling them that EE confirm they have my number but they never comment on that, just repeat that it can’t happen, and everything is fine, they are now shut on Sunday so I have to wait till Monday to try and speak to someone that doesn’t just read basic crap of a screen.
Up to now I have recieced texts, calls, FaceTime and texts saying my texts are now being diverted, to,where I don’t know.
God knows what texts and info the other guy is receiving from my end, my phone security is totally compromised and Three are totallly not sorting this, just getting to speak to someone that can help is unbelievablely hard, their customer service is shocking.0
