    Hi Poppy

I just wanted to pop in and say you're doing great!! Random but do you live close to a B&M store? I got 90% of all of my Christmas presents in there this year and it saved me about £100ish - even if you get a few cheaper presents from there!

Good luck with your journey - stay positive!! x

  • Right, stopped sulking and actually done something that would make a difference and went through the kitchen cupboards so I know what I've got in order to meal plan. I'm really hoping for a low cost food/house/toiletries shop this week as I'd like to finish the month (my months run pay day to pay day) in credit in my shopping and spending budget. My bills budget will be 0 but I haven't got any control over that one until my phone contract runs out in June.
I think I need to make this diary more of an action plan to motivate me rather than dispare all the time.

Hiya its shopping day today! Food wise I don't need loads but I do need washing powder and softener so that will be a big cost (me and DS can only use fairy) My budget is £50 for the week which includes all food, house hold items and toiletries. I'm really hoping to stay below £40 this week including the washing powder and softener.
I've meal planned for the week ahead and wrote a list so fingers crossed I can keep costs down.
I could do with re doing my SOA and writing a detailed budget plan out on here. I might so that now actually...
The item I'm selling hasn't had much interest really hoping it will sell.

  • Hello Poppy, just popping by to say hi, I have subscribed to your diary and look forward to reading. I lurk such a lot but love the diaries, it's always so useful getting tips and seeing how others manage their debts and always learning. I am on a self managed DMP and I honestly don't know what I would do without this little forum. Anyway, good luck, look forward to following your journey x

    Hi Poppy

Do you actually need fabric softener?

I never use it and the only difference I can notice with other people’s washing is that theirs is very scented. Our family has sensitive skin so we dont use scented products anyway.

Why not try a load of washing without softener and see what you think?

Hi!! Do you know what I've never actually thought about this, I probably don't NEED it. I do like it but it's probably not a necessary. Right I'm going to try and use less and see how I get on this month. X

Good evening. I had a spendthrift day today. Filled up the car with petrol (£43) hopefully this will last me a few weeks. My mileage depends on Work days and plans at the weekend so I'm not 100% sure on how much I spend on petrol at the moment. Using bank statements I guessed it was around £70 a month but we'll see.
I then went to B & Ms and spent £10 on a box of washing powder and bottle of softener. See above post I'm going to use less of each of these and see how long I can make them last.
Still haven't re done my SOA because I couldn't find the link anywhere for the website!
Also I'm going to write out a detailed budget plan on here so that people can have a look and give me any advice on where I can cut back or save.
I was going to go to Aldi for my weekly shop but i decided against it. I've still got food in the fridge, freezer and cupboards so I would like to try and wait as long as possible before doing a shop.... I'd love to stretch it to next week that would make week 3's shopping total £10 I'd be happy with that.
Sorry my posts are so dis jointed and rambly I really need to make them more structured but I use this as a bit of a vent so it all just gets written down as it's coming out of me Head lol.
