Parking - new build

    Public Transport - what's that ?
Buses disappeared round here - 10+ years ago - with no alternative transport !!

Well the one I am quoting from is in Tottenham Hale, and no matter what you might otherwise think of Tottenham it certainly has a lot of buses.

My point is that each council will have its own plan. You can't say (as in your first post) that:
I was of the assumption that all new build property developments HAD to provide 0.75 OFF STREET car parking spaces per property ...

Because that simply isn't the case everywhere. There is no set minimum.

If you are quoting from the relevant council's own overall plan for transport and new builds, and that plan specifically says at least 0.75 spaces, that would be a different matter. But in any case the London one illustrates how in general councils are trying to dissuade people from owning cars so it is hardly surprising.

So where did you get the info about 10% parking? (Do you mean 0.1 parking spaces per dwelling?)

As others say, the planning application details should be available online, and they will discuss parking/transport.

If it's 400+ houses, there's probably a whole lot of stuff about infrastructure improvements as well - e.g. highways improvements, public transport improvements, new/extended schools, recreation facilities etc.

Still no clues about where "round here" is though!

All I can say, is if anyone with 2 cars is stupid enough to buy a house with no off road parking, then the parking misery is of their own making. There are plenty of houses available with off road parking.

And if nobody bought the houses with no parking the builders might think again.

As long as people continue buying them, nothing will change.

In theory this isn't too bad if there's a resident permit scheme, with only the "original" properties qualifying for permits and the newcomers having to find their own off-street parking (you can't realistically live there and shift your car every 4 hours to another pay and display space).

Not enough spaces for current residents (with permits). They'd be miles away if they needed no parking restrictions - they're everywhere now. New block is right by the station which makes it even harder!

Umm, E4 is London (well, mostly)... The "WF" (as in "London Borough of Waltham Forest", I assume you mean) bit certainly is. So it comes under this...

Yep, mentioned 'Waltham Forest' earlier in the post.

It certainly is Sadiq Khan who's behind a lot of it, although I think WF had their own ideas about it first. There's currently uproar about many people being hit with a future £12.50 charge too to even reach the local hospital due to the proposed Ultra Low Emission Zone.

If only there were other ways to travel around London than in your own car...

I don't live there any more. Buses in the area take forever. Cabs too pricey. Not everybody is fit and able enough to cycle - especially those heading to/from a hospital(!) which is why I specifically mentioned the hospital. Too far to walk from most of the areas it serves. Sometimes people do need cars - not necessarily for themselves, but to be given lifts to/from a hospital who may not be capable of using bikes or public transport.

Those people would be very likely to be eligible for motability cars, which would be new enough to be charged the ULEZ. Then there's dial-a-ride for routine appointments.

Dial-a-Ride don't take people to hospital for appointments, only to their GP.

Wasn't talking about long-term sick/disabled, more those needing to attend the hospital.

Have you any idea how wrong you are ?
Motability cars are virtually impossible to obtain nowadays
You have to be claiming high rate mobility PIP to be entitled to a car - and this is not exactly handed out on a plate these days !
