OP is saying he collided with another car and apologised to the owner. And it sounds as if it was not deliberate. Therefore, an accident.
He was there, you (I presume) were not!0 -
This happened to me and all agreed at the time, absolutely no damage and then the other party changed their mind and claimed. I don't know what for as there was no damage.
I explained this to my insurance company who sympathised but there was nothing they could do and it went through as my fault. If you want to be rich, never, ever have kids0 -
Reminds me of when I was much younger (22/23). I had a Yamaha FS1E moped and had an incident where I went into the back of a (parked) Fiesta van due to skidding on some oil. (The rear bumper of the van was already in quite some state, and the severity of the impact meant I had to bend back the metal mudguard on my moped - no fork damage or anything like that, and the impact damage to the bumper was negligible).
The workman came out, took a look and said "Don't worry about it. I'll let the boss know but it'll be fine". I received a letter from my insurance company several weeks later regarding the claim the other party had made for a new bumper! (Barstewards! What made it worse was I received that letter on the morning of my Mam's funeral).0 -

Bet you wished you'd have kept it, as I do with my SS50, both worth a minimum of 2 grand now if in reasonable condition. Mine cost £212 new in '75!0 -
Whilst I appreciate you believe there was no damage I have to say that people who don't care about their cars and are relaxed about nudging others tend also not to notice damage.
I would suggest it is nearly impossible to nudge another car and for there to be no damage. Even if it is minor scratching to the lacquer on the paint there will be damage.
If you don't want to find yourself in this situation don't hit other peoples cars. I would also say that photo's may help with the suggestion of no damage, they are not conclusive as movement on a bumper is not always obvious unless looked at from all angles and paint/lacquer damage may not show up in a camera photo depending on the angle and lighting.
I drive a lot of classics and the worst offenders are likely to comment, its not much damage, or its only an old car.......
Struggling to see why there is so much support for the OP on this one, they hit someone's car, so what if they don't think there is any damage. I would almost 100% bet there is !.0 -

Indeed. I got mine in '87 and paid (I think) £750 brand new. The "fizzy" was the poster boy of mopeds back then. I traded it in for an RD125LC after I passed my car test. (Then traded it in for a GPZ600R after passing my bike test).

just to add to your confusion. My car was at the receiving end of the nudge from another driver while in heavy traffic. it was so slight that my passenger did not even realised that another car gone into our back. got out of the car checked everything looked alright and did not exchanged details. few weeks later realised my car leaks into the boot which was the direct result of the nudge.
people say back in the day bumpers were for bumping- back in the days bumpers were not build to absorb the shock, the materials used were more robust0
