Dishwasher Owners - Do You Use Separate Rinse Aid?

Many dishwasher tablets these days, even perhaps all of them have salt and rinse aid function.

Our dishes used to come out practically dry but since moving to Fairy tablets and stopping using separate rinse aid, some are still wet when unloading.

Do you use separate rinse aid?
What tablets do you use?
Do your dishes come out dry or a little wet?
Whats your dishwasher?

Looking for some statistics !!!9786;!!!65039;

Fairy tablets in a Bosch dishwasher. always add salt (london hard water area) and rinse aid. only use the eco wash program which is just under 1.5 hours and dishes always sparkling clean and dry.

I turn off the drying cycle on ours, more economical.

hard water salt and rinse aid

use whatever I can get got to be under 10p ideally <5p a tablet getting harder to find finish but the Aldi/Lidl ones work fine.

No. We just use the tablets on their own. No salt, no rinse aid.

Tesco tablets, or whatever is on offer. Bosch dishwasher. Dry dishes.

Not sure how common this is, but when I had my dishwasher a couple of years ago there was a section in the manual that covered this - Basically there!!!8217;s a way to turn off the rinse air bit on mine if you only ever use all in one tablets. Still keep the salt reservoir full though, as that is used for treating the water not the washing process per se

Edit: As an afterthough, I know a friend of mine who uses the all in one tablets that doesnt have the ability to turn off the rinse air, so they turned it down to its lowest setting and just fill it with water to keep the machine happy.

With our old Hotpoint it was never necessary to use rinse aid, everything came out sparkly & dry. With our new Bosch if we don't use rinse aid things are still wet & streaky when we empty it. Do whatever works for you.

I use salt and rinse aid as well as the tablets which claim to include this but I find the result is better (I may be fooling myself though).

We use Finish tablets (buy a big box when there's a good offer on) and cheap rinse aid. Never had any problems, though never really tried without it - its cheap after all haha. Dishes come out dry, other than the puddles which collect; its a hotpoint machine.

  • Yes, and salt.

    Soft water area.
One tsp of Finish powder. £3 1kilo, so about 3p a wash.
I use the short wash most of the time as it uses less water and electricity then the eco wash if the cups need a deep clean.
