    Seems like binary thinking?

You are taking aim at the more vocal extremists, but also hitting a lot of decent people who are simply desperate for hope, and a silver lining. It's misfortune and bad luck, for most part, that 'most' renters don't have income, investment knowledge, life stability, or family assistance, to buy.

The mods on HPC are trying to mute the extremist voice to give more balanced discussion on their website. Banning for example immigration talk as much as possible or funneling it into obscure parts of the site. And it seems MSE mods attempted similar by creating this sacrificial anode of a ' registered users only' section, to capture as much of this snobbish, classist, elitist attacks on the lower classes as possible, so at least the bulk of readers to MSE, don't have to read it.

Why on earth else would a financially secure homeowner post on here? other than to smugly boast. What possible other reason.

    GREAT question....:rotfl:

HPC if you have ever seen are quite a vile bunch, I will agree this is a core. I have a real problem with you trying to say moderators look for a balanced view... Anyone that has gone on there and questioned or apposed the general viewpoint that houses are about to crash are shouted down as being a troll. It is not a place for any sort of debate.

Before I bought my first house I found HPC, as a first time buyer putting every penny I had into my house I was scared stiff that prices were about to flop... Thank god others in my life made me see sense, im sure HPC has encouraged lots of people to make the biggest mistake of their lives...

It makes me laugh that any indexes that say prices are rising are skewed or delayed or not reliable or seasonal changes, but those same indexes when they say there is a fall are the only index to be trusted.. They have already made their conclusion house prices are falling or about to fall and then they go looking for any evidence that points to their conclusion however obscure or flawed and ignore any evidence that contradicts the conclusion.

Why would a secure homeowner post on here? because we live in the UK and everyone is obsessed about house prices, some want to move up the ladder so in fact a drop would help them... That is the sort of thing HPC say, anyone that does not agree with us must be vested interests.. Its a poor argument.

Around six people regularly post on here :o None of them could tick all three boxes for emotionally/mentally/financially secure IMO.

    GREAT question....:rotfl:

I can answer that question Crashy, and the answer is, that no matter how certain you are with the financial decisions that you have made, it is very wise to check your logic against the logic of people who have opposing views. It makes sense to check your logic (we are all capable of making errors). Someone like Thrug, who is very bearish, makes his decisions on sound logic, the only difference between him and myself is the bear/bull/somewhere in the middle difference. Every important decision is worth a second look.

EDIT: I think I just ticked all 3 boxes.

I am financially stable but not so rich I can afford to not make the best of my finances I.e. don!!!8217;t have enough money yet for the rest of my life.
I come on here as I!!!8217;m genuinely open to opposing views.
Very recently I obtained knowledge and opinions on whether I should pay off my mortgage and the facts And opinions I obtained helped me reach a decision.

I take no pleasure whatsoever in the difficulties of others whether of their own making or not. It!!!8217;s interesting to observe the mindset of HPCErs and thus question ones own confirmation bias, but I see no pleasure in their plight and it does seem to be obsessed about.

I!!!8217;m mostly interested in listening to people who!!!8217;ve done better than me, either in a specific area or generally.
I don!!!8217;t find most people are open to changing their minds, certainly not on forums.

What nonsense you talking, we are here to discuss property movements. Of course anyone answering you silly question is going to claim they are all three in the secretive world all of us comment in called the web. Already you have had a notorious Walter Mitty type claim to be all three while he yet again posts about a life I am 100% convinced is nothing like his real one.

Ok that is fair. I must admit that my HPC account was deactivated for posting fairly neutral comments regarding real vs nominal average house price falls in UK over last 10 years... (though that idea bugs people on this site too!)

And it is a good comment above, also, about bitcoin more popular on HPC, due to speculative nature of opting out of housing. But also, BTC is more popular, generally, with non-homeowners for lots of reason.

I do still find it odd that folk obsess about HPC in this forum however. Myself included I suppose.

I have just read yet another thread as I now move onto your post from HPC of them taking over a discussion on yet another respected website and moulding it to suit their own agenda,

That is partly OK if it were not for the fact that most of their contributions are lies from fake personas who are making the world seem a certain way for their own gains. I hate this type of fake news, I have even become angry about fake news when it is used on stuff I agree with, i.e I saw a photo of that idiot Trump the other day with the KKK that was fake, it is OK to hate beliefs and people, but do it for the right reasons and arguments.

HPC are polluting so many blogs and discussion boards with their fake news, it is so dis respectful
  • Please can someone help me with this HPC logic, they are reporting the RM data for February which was a rise yet again as a victory for their argument. Is it possible to get more delusional people

But why the obsession with the delusional?
It would be better to focus on the real issues no?
  • GREAT question....:rotfl:

Because there are interesting views on here from people older and wiser than myself. Yes there are some tedious idiots, but they are obvious and can easily be ignored.

The "Deluded old scrapper birds on dating site thread" on HPC makes for astonishing reading.
    They are an EYESORES!!!!

Historically, a wife was something akin to a PA or a secretary; a woman who would look after the domestic side of life, with the added bonus of bearing you legitimate offspring. Once feminism came along all that went out the window

This is still their only point. If men need a friend they can get a male friend or a dog. If they want sex, they are better off paying for it on a PAYG basis.
a lot of films/books etc from about the late 1980s onwards are based on the 'reformed !!!!!' idea, that a woman can party and ride the c*ck carousel into her mid thirties then magically settle down to normal family life with a high status male who will somehow overlook the fact that she's been passed around more times than a spliff at a Grateful Dead concert.
She is on Facebook (and everything else) to get as much drama and attention for herself as possible, because all women need and crave this

You have to laugh. In the same way that their inability to afford a house is homeowners' fault, their abject inability to attract a woman is women's fault.
