HPC are having a mass breakdown

It!!!8217;s a small vocal percentage of HPCers who are speculating and can afford to buy a house !!!8212;- most simple don!!!8217;t have inheritances or big pay cheque so some empathy might not go amiss?
I am split between the two but having lived in Europe and the US where owners and renters are 1000% more respectful of each other (even in hotspots like SF) I don!!!8217;t see MSE as even slightly more civil or above HPCers. If anything MSE are worse as they mock from a position of strength.
The studies show home owners something like 10x less likely to have mental health issues so have some respect perhaps.
I have never owned and can see the error. But sunk cost fallacy etc is real and stressful and frustrating and tearful even so have some awareness that the most vocal on these boards are akin to any extreme protest group and don!!!8217;t often represent the main.0 -
You could not be more wrong.
HPCers wish ill on others and refuse to accept responsibility for their own choices. These are values antithetical to those of the typical MSEer.0 -

Seems like binary thinking?
You are taking aim at the more vocal extremists, but also hitting a lot of decent people who are simply desperate for hope, and a silver lining. It's misfortune and bad luck, for most part, that 'most' renters don't have income, investment knowledge, life stability, or family assistance, to buy.
The mods on HPC are trying to mute the extremist voice to give more balanced discussion on their website. Banning for example immigration talk as much as possible or funneling it into obscure parts of the site. And it seems MSE mods attempted similar by creating this sacrificial anode of a ' registered users only' section, to capture as much of this snobbish, classist, elitist attacks on the lower classes as possible, so at least the bulk of readers to MSE, don't have to read it.
Why on earth else would a financially secure homeowner post on here? other than to smugly boast. What possible other reason.0 -
HPC if you have ever seen are quite a vile bunch, I will agree this is a core. I have a real problem with you trying to say moderators look for a balanced view... Anyone that has gone on there and questioned or apposed the general viewpoint that houses are about to crash are shouted down as being a troll. It is not a place for any sort of debate.
Before I bought my first house I found HPC, as a first time buyer putting every penny I had into my house I was scared stiff that prices were about to flop... Thank god others in my life made me see sense, im sure HPC has encouraged lots of people to make the biggest mistake of their lives...
It makes me laugh that any indexes that say prices are rising are skewed or delayed or not reliable or seasonal changes, but those same indexes when they say there is a fall are the only index to be trusted.. They have already made their conclusion house prices are falling or about to fall and then they go looking for any evidence that points to their conclusion however obscure or flawed and ignore any evidence that contradicts the conclusion.
Why would a secure homeowner post on here? because we live in the UK and everyone is obsessed about house prices, some want to move up the ladder so in fact a drop would help them... That is the sort of thing HPC say, anyone that does not agree with us must be vested interests.. Its a poor argument.0 -

Ok that is fair. I must admit that my HPC account was deactivated for posting fairly neutral comments regarding real vs nominal average house price falls in UK over last 10 years... (though that idea bugs people on this site too!)
And it is a good comment above, also, about bitcoin more popular on HPC, due to speculative nature of opting out of housing. But also, BTC is more popular, generally, with non-homeowners for lots of reason.
I do still find it odd that folk obsess about HPC in this forum however. Myself included I suppose.0 -

If you trust them all you would believe they are doing better than that even. All their investments are soaring, they all rent palaces for £50 per month because of their special contacts, and all are Zen buddhists who have taken enlightenment to a new high0 -

I suggest he read up on the ever so pleasant Venger just for starters, Goodness!!
That woman wants people to burn for their crimes, in others those who homed their families in the home she thinks she has more right to own0 -

Hey!! Hold on you, they have been spot on for 17 years now, the crash is just about to start0 -
However you look at it, HPC has 100% failed.
Even the original inventors of the website conceded and at least profited from the sale of the site. Or maybe the new owners thought they might be on to something, because there will always be those who for the next 20 will be hoping for a property crash and cult fan base.0
