This could be a serious matter for Newbies wanting advice. You sign up then a few days later you are told your password doesn't work. I bet an awful lot of people won't bother to return.0

My 5 day old password has expired. Really?
This situation isn't just annoying now, it's getting to the point where I am not trusting this site at all. In any other aspect of life, whether we pay for a service or not, transparency is expected along with apologising when things to wrong.
MSE staff appear to think they're on some sort of pedestal and we're the minions who don't deserve any decency.
Do the decent thing MSE forum staff and show us just a modicum of customer service please.
Without the smoke screen, please explain truthfully why we had to reset our password.0 -
Changed my password again because it is five days old.
Come on MSE tell us why you are going this in the first place and how so incompetently!0 -
Agree with all the above and I probably won't bother if it's going to be every 5 days.
Again if there was an explanation as to why, it would at least make some senseNo.79 save £12k in 2020. Total end May £11610
Annual target £240000 -
Yes, it's getting ridiculous now. I changed it, then it came up with "invalid password" although it was showing I was already logged on. Why are we not getting a satisfactory answer for this cocck up from admin? That is the least they could do for their members, so much for good customer service0

It is getting ridiculous - changing a password every 5 days is not workable and will kill this forum and the MSE community.
Some people struggle to remember a long standing password - I understand the ne d for security, but to change every 5 days is setting people up to fail. For what purpose? It is a Forum, my bank does not require changes this often.0 -
Indeed total nonsense, especially since it accepts the old one anyway. Together with resetting my visited threads counter and resetting back to threaded view it will just drive people away.0
-
Did everyone just reuse their old password last time, or did some who've been affected actually change it last week?
I reused my previous one last time (and this time too). Just seeing if there's any common theme.0 -
I was also asked to change my password this morning, as it was 5 days old. It's no big deal to me, but it's still inconvenient.0
-
I'm another, just 5 days since it was last changed.0
