whats wrong with this mobile phone?

when i call my hubbys mobile, he can hear me but i cant hear him,

the same happens if he calls me, he hears me but i cant hear him

please help

that was my first thought as well - if the volume is on zero you won't hear him! either that or it's broken!

What happens when you receive or make other calls is the reception volume OK?

anyone who calls his phone wont hear him, but he can hear them, this is annoying now, he says the volume settings are normal

Carry out a factory reset on the phone take care in case you loose any phone numbers in the phones memory those on the sim should be ok.
Is it now working ok?.
If not try the sim card in another phone is this ok?
If it is then the phone is definitely suspect as being faulty.
