    Just phoned EE and waived the "Three deal" at them. Got a massive discount (well £3.99 off) and more data with immediate effect. No March RPI increase either.

    Now on Unlimited Calls and Texts with 6GB of Data (Which I will use) for £12 month.
  • Hi Martin, I phoned the 'leave EE' line (answered in 3 secs!!!) and told them I wanted to leave EE- they offered me a better deal than my current £22 per month: sim-free 2 Gig, plus free texts and calls for £8 per month!!! I stayed.
  • Have EE calculated RPI on Jan or Dec?

    Have EE calculated RPI on Jan or Dec?

    According to the article it's based on the figure announced in December 2017.
    It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.
  • I have been notified of this increase by way of an email which clearly says, !!!8220;We!!!8217;re writing to let you know about the Retail Price Index (RPI) change to your monthly price plan(s), which will take effect from 30th March 2018. The RPI figure published by the Office for National Statistics in January 2018 is 4.1%.!!!8221;
    If this is the case, then the ONS website states that the RPI rate published in February and set in January is 4%.
    I raised this with EE and the call centre staff couldn!!!8217;t answer my query so they have raised it as a complaint and will contact me back within 8 WEEKS!!!

    The RPI published in January is based on December. It's always the previous month; pretty obvious to anyone since you can't measure it halfway through the month!!

    Why is that if you get a price rise during a broadband contract you can leave but with mobile phones you cannot? Even on a sim only deal? Not like you are paying for a phone or anything?

    I assume the basis they use is that a 12 month sim only is offered at a cheaper price than an equivalent deal on 30 day rolling, so if customers were allowed to leave they'd effectively have had a discount without having to 'lock in' for a minimum period.

    It's in the terms of the contracts that RPI increases now happen every year. It's not something I agree with so I am voting with my feet and will not sign a contract with such terms.

    As far as I know, none of the home broadband contracts have a mid contract RPI clause in the terms, so if they decide to change the price, it is effectively a change in the contract, which you have the right to accept or reject.

    but with mobile phones you cannot?
    Some companies have a clause in the T&C's saying that at some point in the contract they will increase the price by the RPI on a particular date. As this is written in to the contract when you sign, you have agreed to it, as such, it is not a change to the contract, so you can't leave.

    Unless I've made a mistake the RPI they should be using is 4%, not 4.1% .
    They use the December figure of 4.1%, it's published in January, this is as per EE terms.
