Forced to change password/ MSE

Is it compulsory to change password on MSE now?

I've just been automatically logged out of MSE. It gave me the following reason:

Your password is 3208 days old, and has therefore expired.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

That's a new one, even for me. I've changed the password now so all is good :j:j

Mine was only 744 days old and I had to change too ?

Seems so. Mine was 955 days old, but I don't recall ever changing it in the ten years I've been a member!

Very strange indeed. They must be doing something with the security of the site.

I put the old password as new one.... I like it - didnt want to change it - went through ok. I wonder if there has been a security breach or something...

My wife had the same (using FF I use Chrome), worrying thing for her was the padlock in the address bar where they wanted her to change her password had a red line through it, so wondering has MSE been hacked?

I've been thinking they might have been hacked and the hackers are asking for passwords...or God know what drama!!!
