IB question

I claimed for Incapacity Benefit and had to fill an IB50, I spoke to someone at medical services today, who advised me that in their recommendation I do not need to go for a medical, and this is what they will be telling the DWP.
When the DWP get this decision what happens next? Will I be awarded IB? or can the DWP make me go for a medical? (not that I mind going to a medical).
Have you got a job yet?

NO? Then :shhh:

I depends what you are claiming for, if they have decided you are in an exempt group you would not need to go for a medical.

Yes you do not need to have a medical if you meet the thresh hold on points. It will go straight to the Decision Maker who will decide if he thinks you need a medical or he is feels you do not need a medical if you meet the thresh hold and if so your IB will continue. You will then get a letter saying whether or not you meet the requirements for IB and if you do when you will have your next review which cold be in a year or two or five years time.

So the decision maker can overide the medical services doctor (or whatever it is) who says I have enough points and deemed me unfit for work?
Again sorry but I am having a bit of a mental block and having trouble taking things in today unless its explained to me in the simplest way possible. :o

I was told I was put on the pile to have a medical but the Decision Maker looked at my renewal and said I did not need a medical and my IB would continue for another 5 years then be reviewed again. So in my case I did not need a medical and didnt need one two years ago on renewal then as well.

 It is the DWP decision whether you go for a medical unless you fall into a group that are exempt from attending a medical. So this will depend on what grounds you are claiming IB:confused: I didnt know that medical services gave you this kind of information. I guess you will just have to wait and hear back from the benefits agency:rolleyes:
