  • I'd say l'm at the beginning of this path, lve had my buy to let 4 years and it's doing ok for me and now l'm looking at number 2, l have no mortgage so am in a good position just don't want to overstretch at the moment a couple of months will make all the difference will then have more cash rather than assets to look at taking advice on. Next year l will be able to access a couple of small pensions and my serps which l opted out of many many years and for me has grown quiet well l think then a IFA will be needed

  • Well today's been a big spend in the scheme of things. My friends getting married to a toy boy lol she's 53 and he's 31(fair play to her) and she's sorted out her hen do we're all of to Benidorm in Nov so flights had to be paid for tonite mine and DD's guess who's paid both, no prizes. I will be sat in the dark with no heating on for the rest of the month lol huddled round a candle with a tin of YS beans to eat.

Good luck to her, but the 'alarm bells' are ringing:eek::)
  • Don't really want to go as it's not really my kind of place l know people love it and everyone's different. Will manage a few days but no longer. I don't think my body would cope

  • Well l don't think l will be making any savings on the gas and electricity this month, it's freezing and l refuse to turn it off just to save a few pounds. I'm not sat in t-shirt and shorts btw l do have extra layers on but why be cold and miserable when l can be warm and miserable lol.

I think sometimes is hard when your on your own when your used to running your ideas through with someone else. Even though l asked my DH what he thought l always did what l wanted in the end anyway lol. But l do miss someone else!!!8217;s views.

My OH died a bit over 4 years ago (I'm 54 this year) and whilst I'm notoriously;) independent, it does get a bit tedious having to make every decision for yourself. I also used to ponder some of the big work decisions with him as well ( I run my own business), now everything is down to me.

It's extremely difficult. My wife took an active interest in researching investment funds etc and now that the yearly account updates are popping through the door, I'm thinking 'crikey what next' lol. Everything she touched seemed to turn to gold, but I don't have the same skills or perhaps the same level of interest in investing. I'm therefore going to consult an IFA and let him/her sort matters :).

I have used an IFA for about 20 years ish and if you ever want a recommendation - he;'s not family or a friend! - please ask, he's up in Bolton. I've been happy with the results versus the costs, I don't think things would have worked out so well if I had been in charge of investments.

I even left my heating on at home yesterday - I work in Salford, live in Runcorn, so we are sharing the same temperatures. Didn't today, hopefully back at two and I'll take the dogs out for an hour and then go shopping by which time the house should be warm enough.

Thank you for your offer too. I have sorted the majority of what l deemed spare money. I was in a position to pay my sisters mortgage off too, so now life is a little easier for her l'm sure my DH would have approved but it has left me a big chunk of money missing for the time being. She is paying it back monthly but it's not quite the same as having it in the bank. Seems Bugslet we lost our OH about the same time Oct 2014 for me.

6 days before Xmas 2013. British black humour, we were all betting on Xmas day, but stubborn to the end he went early.;). And no insurance or pension, just as well I can look after myself!
