Has Hermes got rid of the parcel sizes?

  • Also, what happens to a (hermes) parcel if you (mistakenly or otherwise) undeclare the size.
There's lots of people on here whining and throwing the rattle out the pram about Hermes invoices (fines). The weight / sizes changed two weeks ago, so working out how you can get yourself billed for the extra weight isn't a fantastic idea.

  • This is the first time I've had an over 1kg parcel over 45cm long. So now it seems I have to not use eBays Shutl service, and log into Hermes to get the correct postage rate - the other way round to having to import Parcels in Hermes when you had a medium light weight parcel!

I send 1 kg parcels hermes booked via parcel2go, parcel shop service. One thing I have wondered for a while, is on the 1 kg option @ £2.39 when you click on the info tab it's states maximum weight for that service is 2kg. Is that a mistake my p2g? Because if I select 2kg as the parcel weight it generates the 2.70 price. Also, what happens to a (hermes) parcel if you (mistakenly or otherwise) undeclare the size. Do they autimatically charge you the excess, does it still get delivered, or returned to sender? I wonder if they can link the parcel to an account even if not booked direct?

If the parcel is not paid correctly then My Hermes will deliver it. They will then send you an invoice for the difference plus a couple of quid admin charge. I am not sure how it works with Parcel2go but they will most likely deliver it and Parcel2go will charge you (probably more than My Hermes would). For 31p is it really taking the risk?

"we've made it simpler"..…old price small parcel 2 kg £2.79 new price small parcel 2 kg £3.99........robbing b......s

Yes the old. We made it simpler....... we charging you more.
That is the only simple thing!

Now, I just don't use Hermes for anything 1-2kg. Though I get the impression Hermes don't want private sellers custom, in this weight division now. They've purely upped the prices thus they can cream from the likes of QVC etc which probably have loads of items, in that weight division, they can make more from!

Are you sure of this? I had this the other day just after this 1-2KG tariff came in. My scales said 950kg (mine are calibrated). Though, Hermes were citing 1.15KG. They absolutely refused to get the parcel going, until I paid up their increased charge with levy.

Meanwhile, I have an ebay buyer waiting the other end judging me on delivery timescales!
