Magnet kitchen review - terrible customer service, terrible installation service and they don't care at all!
Just posting to reinforce these negative experiences of Magnet kitchens. We are still waiting for ours to be properly finished 2 months after the job.
The lowlights of our experience were mistakes in the design, a thoroughly unpleasant fitter who took a holiday and left us with no water or gas and a complete mess mid-job, ongoing problems with an incorrectly fitted appliance, and their customer service/complaints procedure is appalling.
The 'Full Circle Service' which they claim to provide has been completely absent and it seems that they really don't care whether they have provided a decent service or not. So long as you have paid, of course.
To anyone thinking of using Magnet, I would say - just don't.0 -
- We paid in full for our kitchen on March 14th, that was our first and biggest mistake. Magnet finally got round to fitting it in mid-May. We had a few problems which we had to get fitters back to deal with. Now, just a few weeks later, a door is dropping on its hinges, there are gaps between the drawers and the trim is falling off the cupboards. Overflow pipe isn't properly fitted and is currently held on with sticky tape as we've had 2 floods. The promised "invisible" joins in the Corian are visible. Complained again to Chingford branch and sent photos on 18th July and, in spite of being told the fitter would get in touch, no-one has. Frankly, we don't really want the original fitter back here. If he was any good we wouldn't have these problems. Avoid these people at all costs.

Thanks for this - almost considered Magnet because they have a showroom conveniently close to my work. Will seek out good referrals for a local independent instead.0

Magnet are refusing to pay the extra costs because I originally paid the electrician direct. Technically they are correct - it was a private transaction. However, given that I've paid them about £15k for all the work, you'd think they'd be big enough to cough up £200. But no.
They're sweetness and light up until the sale and then they don't want to know. Avoid them and tell your friends.
I totally agree I paid £24k for mine and the plinths and the panels on the island have blown due to moisture getting in. It is obvious after removing them they have been fitted with unsealed cuts directly onto the floor so after time they started to blow. I even paid them to do the fitting. However according to magnet " it is they way I am mopping my floor" no come back, they are not interested as they have all my money. Disgusting service from a supposedly reputable company- they are a bag of !!!!! !!!!!! Fuming with them!!!!!0 -
Just wanted to add my own pound of flesh to this. We've just had a Magnet kitchen fitted. Total nightmare from start to finish! From changing delivery place and date without letting us know, then when work did finally start, bits were missing from the order. They only have one delivery per week, so that caused more delays. Because of these delays, the work was rushed to finish because the fitter had another job. Then there was a leaking sink overflow and a door dropping. A piece of the worktop at the side nearest the cooker started peeling off. (There should have been a metal side fitted in this cases) I made numerous phone calls throughout all these problems and rarely was there anyone at the store who knew anything and then no one ever bothered to return my calls. (I've spent a fortune in telephone calls to that company) We were always left completely in the dark, never knowing what was going on.
There are glowing reviews on their website, but when I tried to add mine (it was only a mild condemnation of their customer service) but it was never printed! What a surprise! I can only assume the 'Glowing' reviews were from themselves! The kitchen itself was of good quality and on the whole we are pleased with it. But as someone else mentioned, we had to pay the whole cost up front and once they had our money, they didn't give a hoot about us after that! Their customer service absolutely stinks! I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy!

Daisy Bell - This thread is a bit old!
Magnet have a Facebook page, why not put your comments on it just for good measure. Dulux jumped to attention when I went on theirs with some scathing remarks.Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.0 -
TOTALL AGREE! Don't touch this company with a barge pole....even a rusty old one at that!
our kitchen installation began almost a year ago. Problems arose the first day with damage caused by Magnet's 'best fitter.' Leaks, plumbing issues, shoddy workmanship, damage to home and goods, ran late taking almost a year to get kitchen 'right, endless stress, days off work needed to accommodate extra fitters brought in, some days fitters not showing up etc....etc..... have been fighting with magnet for all this time to be offered at first £500 off a total price of just under £20,000. Now having dealt with the Ombudsman, they have given no impartiality upping this top about £600! This is insulting. eg. one example of this are our electric goods heavily damaged by fitter. Magnet or Ombudsman will offer no compensation as they cannot verify the state of goods when fitted. Damage relates to such items as COOKER HOOD, COOKER HOB, FRIDGE FREEZER, ETC...ETC.... These goods were boxed and new, still in original packaging which magnet fitter undid to install. Fitter was sacked on the job so will not verify this, but Magnet branch manager can verify this, but refusing to back up our plea. Disgraceful and underhand. Another quick example is that magnet have alleged paying over £450 in building repair. This is completely untrue. I have asked for evidence, still awaiting what this charge covered and who they paid out to, as there was no building work which they have managed or insisted on. In fact, the receipt I gave to the Ombudsman for repair work we have paid for is not even being considered! Totally NOT impartial. Having seen their facebook complaints area of which I am now banned for posting my images of such a poor service and installation, there are many many similar complaints detailing angst caused by Magnet fitters. Magnet have to take responsibility for the fitters they use! More importantly compensate accordingly. They have offered less than 2% of our total price and still expecting us to pay for an installation charge which broke down in every way!
When and where would you ever pay such an amount for such poor service and more importantly a kitchen that we don't think will last the test of time!0 -
If you post on their facebook page they are swift to have you removed. I posted some images detailing their poor work and was banned in a matter of hours/days. They obviously don't like freedom of speech and worried about their reputation, but doing diddly-squat to rectify things! Typical bullish behaviour from a big company. Have written to Watchdog now and seeking advice of a solicitor.0
