OP, is your gripe with the Magnet electrician or someone you paid directly ?

Seeing as this thread is four years old and OP has only made the one post on the forums I doubt you will get an answer.

Oops ! Why do people resurrect threads like this ? Must be more observant !
  • We chose to buy a Magnet kitchen because we thought they would provide an organised stress free soloution,we were totally wrong.
They are fantastic at selling but absolutley terrible at customer service.
The biggest problem is that the tiled floor is not stable, the grout and tiles are cracking because of the movement.I first informend the Gallows Corner branch in November 2011 and they still haven't sent an expert to examine this major problem. They never phone back and very rarely answer my emails.Appalling.

Just to say to anyone thinking of getting a new kitchen to look at smaller local companies who have been going for several years. Get quotes from the big boys and show them to the local guy and he will do a better job for slightly less.
Try to pay one bill to the main company for all the trades. Many big companies have teams who travel all over the place, do not care about their reputation and just want to do the minimum as quickly as possible and get out.

There is another current discussion about Magnet under "In the home". I started it yesterday.
I have seen quite a few recommendations to go for small local firms. I was going to look at one myself today but the snow has prevented me doing so. I always assume that they will be more expensive but perhaps not.
  • once you have purchased your Kitchen they will not admit to any faults with there kitchen.
Fault Number 1 within 6 weeks of Black gloss worktop being fitted marks appeared which were underneath the gloss finish, it seems that the factory must have placed bottles on top of the worktop when gloss was wet and then just glossed over it, despite the marks UNDERNEATH the gloss they would not admit responsibility although they did provide a replacement worktop ( which cost us £250.00 to have re fitted as it was all around the sink)
    Fault number 2;
kitchen has been fitted less than a year and 6 of the so called stainless steel handles have started to blister , called magnet yesterday and was told that there were not in fact stainless steel !!!! and i shouldnt have used cleaning products on them, they said they were willing to sell me 6 new handles......
There after sales customer service is diabolical and i would serously think about going elsewhere if i was considering a kitchen...........

I would not recommend Magnet either. They fitted a kitchen for me in May 2004. Their kitchens have a ten year guarantee but in 2005 cracks developed in the worktop. After many phone calls and letters (and assurances from Magnet) I am still waiting for this fault to be rectified. Have I case for trading standards?

    After 7 years???

    After 7 years???

LOL - that was posted 5 years ago :D
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

  • Yes, we made the same mistake and went to Magnet for our very expensive kitchen and it was a nightmare. The fitting was dreadful and the appliances were either fitted badly or just sub-standard. There was an accident when a pipe leaked underneath the white marble tiled floor and it was again a nightmare to get them to repair the damage. They had to replace the whole floor then put a man who called himself a tiler in to do the tiling. It was like a cobbled floor when he had finished. After several months they finally managed to get a decent tiler to replace everything again. We lived in a mess for nearly a year!! This is just the tip of the ice berg too. They then offered us £300 compensation for living in a building site for a year!!! which we did not accept. In fact we haven't even replied to the offensive offer. We have never signed off on our kitchen and we are having to get repairs to the appliacnes through the Manufacturer. They do not understand the concept of: Customer Satisfaction or Customer Service.
  • Just noticed the note about black gloss - we have black gloss doors which are all marked. Magnet said they would either repair them or replace them, but what in fact they did, was to supply me with the cleaning agent, which still hasn't made a difference. I spent the best part of a year cleaning up after every time Magnet came to 'repair' something in the kitchen. They will not replace the doors - why? because they say anything but never do what they say. I would recommend only going to someone who has actually installed a kitchen for a friend.
