Blood Stain on Fitted Carpet

Options
We have had a carpet fitted and paid the store £1600 for the carpet and a fitment administration cost and had to pay the fitter £246 directly.
The fitter has left a blood stain on the carpet. The store has offered us £50 and a carpet cleaning kit so that we can clean up their blood. Or, they will give us £25 and they will clean it. If they clean it I will have to take a day off work and the £25 won't cover this.
I feel pushed into a corner and like I have no options.
If we reject the carpet under consumer rights will we be able to claim back the fitting fee? Also, would the rejection of the carpet also include the underlay which was part of the order? I don't want to end up paying £246 for fitment of some underlay.

I feel so upset by how we have been treated really poorly by the company

It’s unfortunate but I doubt the fitter deliberately cut himself to spite you.

If it was me, I’d take the £50 and the cleaning kit, and if it still didn’t clean properly then I’d look to them to clean it.

Blood does come out of carpets. My dad had frequent nosebleeds due to weak capillaries (I think...) and my families home doesn’t have blood all over the carpet.
  • Nope I don't have any family who live within 100 miles. The fitter did not cut his artery but did wipe his blood over the carpet.
The fitter accused us of lying.
The fitter also without our knowledge took a video of the inside of the house and decided to share it without our consent. He passed it onto private phones so we have no idea who has a copy of the video. The video shows the layout of our house and security measures and contents of the rooms.
The video also shows the stain that he left and therefore has shown that he was lying.
I have no desire to clean up someones blood especially when they have treated us with no respect.

How do you know about the video, and what is on it?

How is that most of the really weird threads that appear on this site are posted by "newbies"?

I thought I'd logged on on the wrong day of the week.

So you were able to witness him 'wiping' blood onto the carpet, but did not witness (and stop) him taking a protracted video of your home, alarm system and contents of each room.

Im also going to assume you were home as youre not willing for someone to clean whilst youre out so I don't believe you werent in whilst he was fitting the carpet, making a home movie and wiping blood all over your house.

He also shared this video with all of his friends who are burglars, but you only mentioned this when some people told you that maybe you should just try to give it a clean. How on earth did you know he shared this video?

If someone had videoed my SECURITY SYSTEM and home contents, I wouldnt give two hoots about a bit of blood on the carpet, I'd be contacting the police.

However... that would be if this was all true.

offered us £50 and a carpet cleaning kit so that we can clean up their blood . . . <snip> . . I have no desire to clean up someones blood
Free cleaning kit plus £50 for a few minutes work. I'm sure a pair of rubber gloves costs just a few pence or ask for a bio-hazard suit . . . :rotfl:

Reminds me of when i was getting my wooden floor fitted, the guy near chopped his finger off, He tried to change the blade on his angle grinder while it was still going, He got no sympathy from me, all i was concerned about was the blood on the walls and whether he was going to finish it or not

He was ok and finished the job
