I understand your stress, it's not nice to be in this position, but this thread is quite ridiculous. Maybe the man is single now but what assumption can you make from that? Maybe he has kids himself that he only sees every other week-end and still want a place large enough for them to have their own room if he can afford it?

The property I rent is always very popular with families and the last time we did some redecoration, it attracted 3 families before we'd even officially put it for rental (work wasn't finished). Due to past experience in the past, we were keen to secure the least risky tenants. The property went to a professional couple with a high earning with only one child rather than the two other families on lower income, one self-employed, with more children, even though both could move in sooner and were more likely to be longer term.

That's how it is unfortunately, the best properties will attract more competition and as already stated, the agency is working for the LL and will also want to rent the place to the tenants less likely to give them work to do during the tenancy.
  • Thank you your very rght with this one and useful infor about families etc each landlord or landlady has preferences I guess

Think you may live in fairyland “fairylights” Clearly you have no children of your own

You've criticised other people for being "unhelpful" then posted this in response to a perfectly legitimate comment.

I've had tenants leave my property recently. It was a family with 3 small children. The house was immaculate apart from two issues:

    1. A small "Disney" picture/card stuck behind the glass in the electric fire, which I couldn't retrieve and ended up replacing the fire. I will never understand how it got there in the first place!
    2. A timber door that had children's scribble all over it

    Fairylights comments were perfectly legitimate.
