    10/10 AFDs please Baileys

I've held off until this evening to post as there was a possibility of going to the pub with friends. Passed on that so it means I've got to target with days to spare. I'm delighted as I had over a week on holiday this month.

I have had a very busy few days and been unable to post so I'm posting early and including today in my target as I know I'm not having a drink.

    7/15 AFDs for me

Thanks everybody for the response to my question regarding substituting one drink for another. Deep down I knew this probably wouldn't work for me as I would end up drinking as much.

I'm out tonight for a family event and I have decided to drive. If I want a drink it will be AF beer or soda +lime.

I ended up having another unplanned drink last night, went to pub and had 3 pints, so that's my target busted for the month unfortunately. But I don't feel too bad about it. It's been a productive week. I've been spending a lot of time decorating that would normally have been time spent in the pub. I've saved a fortune by eating sensibly that would normally have been takeaways or meals out every night, and I've lost another 2lbs.

Hope to finish stripping the wallpaper in the hall today (it's woodchip and it's taking forever!) so I can sit back and enjoy the weekend. Going to our favourite restaurant tomorrow then out for a couple of drinks afterwards.

19/28 so far and looking likely that 26/28 will be the total for the month. Already looking towards next month's target. 29/30. Will be aiming for 90 days in a row 02/04/18 though until 01/07/18 if anyone wants to join me?

Yes I am pretty confident I will make 100 days, I had a few days wobble just after 50 days
Think it was a bit "am I only halfway there?"
Treating myself to an AF beer tonight as a reward for 1st full day of gardening this year
The sunshine makes me feel a bit like the smiley for 21 days!!!
Not going to get into a habit of having the AF beer all the time as there will come a point when I am somewhere it is not available

You're doing brilliantly Paspatur, and I totally understand why you don't want to get into the habit of relying on AF beer. Keep re-inforcing the great new habits you're forming so that you have milestones. I bought blue pots for our sundeck for one milestone and they still look fab years later. Then I signed up for a plastering course, followed by a woodworking course and a few others. There are many, many ways to spend the money you save!

In the early days I didn't know about AF beers, and it was tough relying on getting through an evening out on tomato juice (too acidic) or softies (too sugary). Flavoured waters never appealed to me but I know they work for other people.

I had a major, major wobble last night after nearly four years. Admittedly it was in my dreams, but I knew exactly what I was doing when I said yes to having a scotch, even going so far as to choose to have it from a shot glass so it wasn't a large one. I can't even pretend I thought I was still a drinker, either, because I knew I was blowing a near four year AF run.

FatRab, I'll definitely be joining you for the 90 Challenge. After my shotglass moment it's obvious I still could go back to it, and the thing I think I'd miss the most is the amount of stuff I can get done every day.

I've been working on learning how to do lasting powers of attorney for both myself and my partner because we're not married. Neither of us likes the closest blood relatives we have who, theoretically, would be our legal next of kin in the event of a serious situation. I was quote £180 for each of us to draw up both LPAs but I wasn't at all impressed with the chap who quoted that figure, and we don't happen have a solicitor at the moment because ours retired and sold up to another firm over 100 miles away. With the help of this website it's taken me a while to learn how to do it, but I've registered the first of mine, the second is with the Office of the Public Guardian and it took about three hours to do both of OH's from start to finish. I couldn't have done it without this website.

The documents were in the filing cabinet for 15 years for me to deal with - it was the kind of thing I just couldn't get my head around in the days when I had a hangover fairly frequently and was pushed for time on the sober days because day to day life needed whatever attention I could cobble together.

Arkers, you may not post long posts, but you're here, you're contributing and you're very much one of us.

    23/31 please, Baileys.
    Better is good enough.

    12/14 for yesterday please Baileys.

Like you Maman, I didn't declare early as their was a possibility that I was going to drink but I managed to avoid it :j

Have a good weekend all :)
  • Another one for last night for me please 11/15

I'm off on a work trip tomorrow and have lounge access so this may well be my last AFD this month. Wasn't aware of the trip at the start of the month, hence I doubt very much I will make target.

On a better note, I am typing with my fingers crossed, as I am waiting to hear on how an interview for a new job went. I am really hopeful as it seemed to go well but you never know how well other people have done!
