I’m on here because I can’t sleep. Woke up at 2.15am and just can’t get back to sleep. Start worrying about things (this time money, haha) and then just start going round in circles.
I did the SNC last week, so wish to report 5:5.
I am still being tempted to drink, so Level 3 most days, but I do seem to be getting better at it.
I’m up to 12/16 for the month, 2/5 for this week’s SNC and 56/183 for the year.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

Hope you managed to get back to sleep. Otherwise it’ll be a very long day for you.Live for the moment and plan for the future0

Congratulations Annie!
Hope you got some more sleep Polly
Dani: there is no one right way to stop/cut down on drinking. Just take it one day at a time, try different things and see what works for you. Some great suggestions above, I'd also suggest having in a range of alcohol free drinks that feel like a treat to you, whether that's posh tea, nice fruit drinks, plain mixers like tonic water or an AF drink such as Becks Blue (v popular in these parts!).
I followed the 30 day challenge and ova of the things that resonated with me was the idea of making positive choices, nor negative ones. So don't say 'I'm not going to drink alcohol today', say 'I'm looking forward to trying that nice tea', or 'I'm going to run myself a hot bath this evening and relax with a book.' Most of us have minds that are wired to seek rewards, not punishments. Good luck.

Congratulations Annie, really pleased for you. I hope this will lead to a positive time for you in Vietnam, it seemed as if there were lots of feeling swirling around your last time there so this time you can'do it right'. Hope that makes sense.0

I agree about positive thoughts Glenda. I find that sort of 'visualising' really helps.
There was a time that if I'd been out for the evening and driving then when I got home I'd pour myself a drink straight away and sometimes drink so quickly I might have as much as if I'd been at home all night. Now, as I'm driving home I think how lovely it's going to be to settle down on the sofa with some trash TV and have a nice cuppa. When I get home I make straight for the kitchen and put the kettle on.
8/10 AFDs please Shaggy.0 -
Mamam,, when I’m in the alcohol free zone I love that feeling (almost smug) looking forward to no hangover!!
I need to get back in the zone !!:money: I will never be rich but I'm happy :rotfl:0 -
Hi all , I don’t know why but as the day has gone on ,,, my regret of drinking sat and sun has got worse !!
I can’t seem to cut back ,, so again I say it’s all or nothing with me !
13/20 1/5
Good luck with it, Love A Sale. Interesting, isn't it, how even if you know you're going to drink and then enjoy doing so, afterwards, with a bit of reflection once the hangover's passed, it doesn't seem so attractive as a way of life after all. Giving up booze is a mindset more than anything else, and the more reasons you can think of now, while you're not under the pressure of wanting a drink, the better. Write them all down NOW, so that when temptation strikes, as it inevitably will, you can look back and remind yourself why you don't want to live that way any more.Shaggy... thank you, that made me smile!!
Well this morning I received a formal offer for the job in Vietnam. I wasn't sure how I'd feel but I'm so excited! The opportunity and the big expat salary make it an offer I can't refuse. I'm going to take the dog with me, I can't even contemplate rehoming him. So, I'm toasting my good fortune with some Prosecco tonight.
I won't make 5 on the SNC but I think this is a good reason not to.
Huge congratulations, Annie! You've been really disciplined about job applications and at times that's been disappointing and depressing. I'm always seriously impressed by people who get knocked back but keep on going until they're sucesssful. I'm so pleased for you.
I'm looking for a dog at the moment, so I understand exactly why you can't bear the thought of giving yours up. Good for you - I hope you'll both be very happy in Vietnam!
67.7 kgs, which I don't deserve, but at least it's no worse than that.
13/31 please, Shaggy.Better is good enough.0
