Cutting Down Alcohol Thread

As suspected, I've had a couple of drinks while staying with family - interesting that I wasn't bothered evening 1 but was being polite, evening 2 I was really looking forward to having another drink - hmm. Limited to a half each time so not major but the mental side of it is interesting. Think I'll stick with a soft drink this eve. Also interesting that Family Member has cut down considerably compared to my last visit.
Still at 20/21 but hoping to meet my target soon.
Annie: I'm sorry you are feeling down about the whole thing - give yourself credit for working out that there might be a problem at the moment and where it lies. And well done on not opening the fizz!0 -
Good morning all
18 please Shaggy
Just catching up with the thread. I had no idea you could get wine delivered :eek:Thats a scary thought. Fortunately I am far too brassic at the moment to afford that so I'm safe :rotfl:
On a good note, I had an interview for an MDSA job yesterday and I got it!:T Only 5 hours a week but will pay a few bills and there may be more hours up for grabs so suits me down to the ground. Its in a mainstream school which will be a refreshing change from the Special Needs one I worked in up till the summer hols.

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0

Congratulations on the new job MissP.:T
At a conservative estimate you must have saved the best part of £100 this month alone. It all helps.:) How's the healthy eating going? I've always found that planning ahead saves waste (and waist;)) and money.:money:
I understand how you feel Glenda, it's so easy to get back into the habit of drinking and enjoy it. Most of the time I can park it for weekends but I did have a twinge yesterday evening. I just kept myself busy and then made a cup of tea and got through it.
Much easier tonight as I'll be out dancing and I've long given up wasting an AF day by drinking when I get home. And it's target day today for me.:D
10/10 AFDs please Shaggy and 2/4 for the SNC.0 -
hi all, 11/17 for me please, still on holiday, it has been a bit of a saga but back on track now I hope, looking forward to getting back to the normal day-to-day routine, hope everyone else is well and going strong, haven't had time to read all the posts yet but will when I get back.

Hugely well done, Best Life Now. We can surprise ourselves rather pleasantly when we put our mind to something, I've found.GlendaSugarbean wrote: »I wasn't bothered evening 1 but was being polite, evening 2 I was really looking forward to having another drink - hmm.
It's both a habit and an addictive substance. Some of us get out before the addiction floors us, but there is no doubt that the more anyone drinks, they more they want to drink, be that in terms of frequency or volume. After four years of not drinking I can honestly say I never, ever get cravings any more and for at least a year I had them fairly frequently. They tailed off after that and I haven't had one for at least 18 months, probably two years.
Congratulations on the new job, Delighted Mum!
23/31 please, Shaggy.Better is good enough.0
