    What is with these numbers?
It's writing apostrophes within certain browsers I believe.

I have the feeling that was happening to someone else posting on here because she was using her mobile phone but Barny is probably right that it's a browser thing because others post from their mobile phone without that glitch. Maybe just leave the apostrophes out? ... :(

15/21 for me today, though I was strongly tempted to have a cold glass of something yesterday so there's a small chance I might later today, but for the moment no plans.

16/31 TAFD (had a kebab on Sunday which I forgot to declare!)
You can have results or excuses, but not both.

For those of you who are feeling a bit guilty about not responding to Bailey's request for a volunteer, you can rest on your laurels. Baileys, Cathy Bird and I think we've worked out a temporary system to keep August ticking over that won't be too onerous and will keep the thread going until she's able to take up the reins again and normal service can resume. Have a lovely time Baileys.
Happy birthday Barny! :bdaycake: That's one you're going to remember!
Day 7 : an AFD Saturday...ha ha just feel normal - so there is not much to say!

    (Lovely to feel normal though)

Isn't it? Someone asked me the other day if they legalise cannabis would I use it. (I believe in legalisation and can talk about it for quite a while having done quite a bit of academic reseach into the subject.) I said, 'No, on the basis that having sampled reality for the past four years I think I prefer it to the life I had before.' Weed was never really my thing, but normal fags were, and booze was too. I don't want any of it back in my life. What other people chose to do is entirely up to them as long as they don't harm anyone else.
Day 6 Alcohol free, the weekend was hard as that!!!8217;s when I normally treat myself.
Day 2 Caffeine free, I!!!8217;m finding this even harder, I have less of a headache today so it!!!8217;s improving.

I don!!!8217;t normally eat much sugar, but found myself eating sweets yesterday, so that!!!8217;s not good. I do need to lose about a stone in weight and I was hoping cutting out alcohol and coffee may help me achieve this, it won!!!8217;t if I am snacking on junk food!

Please don't try to lose weight at the same time as you're dealing with booze. Your body will crave the sugar it was getting from the booze and it's safer just to accept that you can and will lose any weight you might gain after you've kicked the booze into touch. If you only use sugar to replace the sugar you're craving in the booze, you won't put on any weight at all.

Congratulations - the first few days are without doubt the trickiest, and you've got through them! Each day becomes slightly easier until you won't mind not indulging.

FatRab, it's a big decision and I support you whole-heartedly. All of us totally under-estimate the tolerance we build up by drinking most day for years. It comes as a profound shock to discover after a lengthy enough period of abstinence that a small amount sets off a whole series of reactions that we'd rather not have. Hugely well done on what you've achieved so far and good on you.

    17/31 please, Baileys.
    Better is good enough.

I said earlier I might change my mind and in fact I think I might, so reverting to 14/21 - it's a beautiful summer evening so might enjoy my dinner with a glass or two of rose. Back on the wagon (perhaps) tomorrow but (probably) Thursday.
