  • 'That's not right - you HAD to apply via Moneysupermarket.com to qualify for the £50, so it had to be online, surely?'

I applied through Martins' money link, on the home page, was this the correct link for the 50 voucher?

he also asked why I'd applied for this card - I was abit flummoxed as you cant just say to claim the free voucher!

Why can't you say that Roxie? They give out the voucher to get you to apply for the card. They hope you'll carry on using their card after you've spent the voucher. Nothing wrong with telling them, and if they get enough feedback that their campaign is working then they'll keep giving out more free money and we'll all benefit. Don't be shy - tell them the score!

Oh I'm so annoyed...I've just transfered a balnce of £810 onto my new Barclaycard as I thought that would kill 2 birds with one stone and get me a new 0% deal and also the £50 voucher. After I had done the trasfer he told me that I would NOT get my voucher until I made a purchase! And if I do now make a purchase on it I will be charged interest on it until I have paid off the full amount on the account!!!

Never mind at least I have got a 0% deal, although I only opened it for the voucher, but you win some you lose some.

So be aware and don't transfer until you have made a purchase and paid it off so you still qualify for your voucher.

That's what the terms say, but it doesn't seem to fit with everyone's experience. The call centre operators seem to be saying different things to different people, so I'd sit tight for a couple of weeks before you go incurring interest charges.

Mae, I had a really helpful lady called Rinka, who agreed that at I'd transferred £500 to my new card, it was deemed acceptable for my voucher & it should be with me soon . . . maybe call back & argue a little?

    Good luck!

I rang them to to check I was on £50 voucher offer as I did everything correct in sign up on moneysupermarket

Answer one was you want to take out protection....I said no I want confirmation I am on the £50 voucher offer......answer 2 was you want to set up a direct debit!!!!

I asked to speak to someone in Engalnd she said not possible, asked for a manager, all in meeting, told her I would hold until meeting finished. They obviosuly can't hang up as she kept saying I can do ring back, but can't get them out of meeting! 10 minutes later another poor English speakr came to phone claimed he was a supervisor and said 'you are on voucher offer' I asked for confirmation £50 voucher he said 'voucher'. Gave up.

I have since emailed Barclaycard 4 times and had four incorrect responses they all state use card before 31/11 and will send you a voucher. I have answered this four times with I signed up to something that said I choose my voucher so you cannot just send it, as choice of stores. I have bad feeling I am heading for a £10 House of F voucher :(

What is next stage to complain about this, is there any course of action? I have never dealt with such a poor indian call centre before and Virgin Media / NTL really takes some beating but Barclaycard have done it their call centre is the worst ever.
  • I got my PIN on Friday and card on Monday. No mention of the £50 voucher in any of the documentation though. Anyway, I will activate it tomorrow, and might use it to make a charity donation to trigger the voucher (and remind Barclaycard of the last time MSE took them to the cleaners).

PS. Card activated. It is an automated service, and you only get put through to the call centre so that they can try to mis-sell you PPI. Just hang up at this point. Ring back a couple of minutes later and you should get a message saying that your card has already been activated.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)

    advice please,

I've made a mistake in not knowing that you had to transfer a balance from another credit card to qualify for the £50 voucher.

I've had the card now for about four days and made a purchase but no balance transfer. The only other card I have has about £20 due on it for this month - not a big credit card user.

what can I do? have I simply messed up and should forget about it?
    thanks

You don't have to transfer a balance at all. :)

What people have found is that transferring a balance appears to equate to making a purchase, so they haven't needed to make a purchase as well. So they have already qualified for the voucher, that's all.

You've made a purchase, so you should hear fro Barclaycard soon on your voucher. :)
' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".
