New Passports Prices from March

The only difference between a child’s passport and an adults passport is the validity. If you want to save money renew it now. Just think, by the time it expires she will be old enough to pay for it herself:). Very MSE :money:My 15 year old daughter's passport expires in April this year..
and she is16 in October this year.
Apart from a holiday starting shortly, dont have any more overseas hols planned this year.
Pondering whether to renew her (child) passport before the prices go up - but then she will only get a 5 year passport, and will still be on a child's version until 20 + ( if thats allowed ? )
Or just stick to original plan, wait till October and get Adult 10 year .
I know the increases are a pittance in the big picture, but this is MSE right

Depended on their travel habits. If the wife needed to travel alone but the husband didn't it would obviously be in her name (or they had one each).NoodleDoodleMan wrote: »As a boy I hadn't twigged the main holder aspect.
That was the 1960s - not sure if was any different then from later.
Most would be in the man's name as main holder ?0 -
That people don't just need a passport for "holidays".People travel for all sorts of reasons, but I don't understand your point.
No. The clue is that I didn't say that or anything that implied that. Are you saying that the costs of international travel should vary according to the purpose of the trip?
Are you saying people should be taxed to go to funerals? Or are you saying the price of fish is silly these days? Or maybe you're saying the moon is made of cheese? No doubt the cost of last minute travel for your friend's sad event still dwarfs the cost of a passport, which was the point I was trying to make.0 -
Apologies if I misunderstood your post. As this thread is about a rise in the price of a passport, I assumed your point was that the expenses of travel for a particular reason should be discounted in some way. That people don't just need a passport for "holidays". No. The clue is that I didn't say that or anything that implied that. Are you saying people should be taxed to go to funerals? Or are you saying the price of fish is silly these days? The cost of travel is neutral and is taxed in various ways regardless of the motive for the journey (or food prices or the composition of the moon).0 -
It's £12.50 increase or 17% increase.Gloomendoom wrote: »Irony?
