New Passports Prices from March

If anyone is finding it a struggle to buy a passport, maybe they should rethink the idea of going on holiday. Even the increased cost is going to be dwarfed by the expense of a holiday.0

I've no idea how you got that from my post.
I simply said that although you travelled without having to pay for a passport through the job you did, most people have to pay for a passport.
You introduced the subject of not having to pay for a passport.
Oops.....I was simply asking a question, no more and no less. So I'll re-word the question.....How do you think people should pay for their passport?
Although I never paid for my passports, I had to go where I was told to go and when I was told to go.....no ifs or buts. So I [and my family] paid for my passports with us having to discipline ourselves to the needs of my employer(s).0 -
Passport prices are set to rise so if you need a first passport or your current one has 9 months or less remaining on it then you can save money by applying or renewing before 27th March 2018.
Cost of first Passport or Renewal for Adult Passport is currently £72.50 but will rise to £75.50 for online applications and £85.00 for postal applications.
Cost of First Passport or Renewal for Children's Passport is currently £46.00 and will rise to £49.00 online and £58.50 for postal applications.
Hope this helps save some money for some of you!0 -
Do you have to pay for a passport online using a card in the name of the passport holder? I was going to offer to do a relative's online, as they don't have access to the internet.0

I remember when joint passports were available for couples - and children were simply named, no photos, only date of birth.
It was right Male Chauvinist Pig stuff to upset the feminists - although the man could travel on it without her, with or without kids, the woman could not do so !!!0 -

Far as I know, no. Not unreasonable for relations to help out - says she who wrote a cheque for son just this weekend.
I think I'll encourage his siblings to get a wiggle on & beat the deadline while they still have access to schoolteachers who have known them long enough & like them well enough to cooperate!0 -
Still a bargain. Approx 2p/day over 10 years, so start putting the copper coins in a jar now.It might work out at £7.55 a year but as you can't pay annually, it's a lump of £75.50 all at once.Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230 -
There was a main holder and a spouse. The main holder could be male or female. It wasn't sexist, at least not in the 80's - it might have been at some time earlier.NoodleDoodleMan wrote: »I remember when joint passports were available for couples - and children were simply named, no photos, only date of birth.

Do you really think holidays is the only reason people travel? Someone I know is abroad for his father's funeral at the moment. If anyone is finding it a struggle to buy a passport, maybe they should rethink the idea of going on holiday. Or 0.0008 per per hour! Apparently the excuse for the rise is the cost of border securty. Well border security isn't just for the benefit of travellers, in fact it's a hinderance to travellers, border security is to stop "undesireables" and drugs etc coming into the country, that's of benefit to everyone whether they travel or not. So should be paid for out of general taxation.onomatopoeia99 wrote: »Still a bargain. Approx 2p/day over 10 years, so start putting the copper coins in a jar now.
I thought they'd moved away from the New Labour excuses for price hikes, obviously not.0
