Is it because so many jobs have been outsourced to third world countries, where perhaps English is not the first language. Also, many have replaced human beings with computers.
When I was a Civil Servant, Government Departments were expected to answer phone calls within 5 rings. Now you have to spend 20 minutes navigating menus. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -

I believe the expression is 'churnalism'....
In this era, clicks are kings - regardless of whether they are fake news, clickbait, malware or simply bad advice, the more clicks a website gets, the better.
Even if they are duped into clicking in the first place - Martin Lewis mastered that one a long time, getting clicks to his site by hook or by crook, and shrouding affiliate links in a "poor me, please click to keep the site free from adverts" - when in reality the majority of the site is one huge advertising referral platform.
The government has issued a press release on parking reform which has gone widespread in the national media.
Martin Lewis has simply jumped on a bandwagon with something tenuously connected to the media activity, simply to generate more traffic.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
I agree. I watched his TV programme the other day for the first time. Talk about financial advice for dummies. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0

YES, and now he runs a comedy show on ITV0 -
Not forgetting all the people who voted to exit the EEU,
WITHOUT KNOWING the first thing about it ?
Well I got a distinction grade in the EU Law module of my Law degree, so I know the first and last thing about it, and everything inbetween.
Not only did I vote to leave the EU, I was part of the Vote Leave campaign in my local area, and have the red T-shirt to prove it. Go figure.
The problem is that the current Government are making a complete pig's ear of the exit process, while Jihadi Jezza and his Momentum-controlled bunch of Marxist loonies on the opposition benches don't offer a credible alternative.
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.0 -

Well, I got an M.A. in Eng Lit, (dissertation = fish imagery in Shakespeare), and voted against leaving, but know very little about. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -

That's all very good BP but nobody saw the rubbish that was
to follow ..... law degree or not ?0 -
I would like to hereby claim ownership of a new internet "Law"...henceforth to be known as Brodwins Law.
It's identical to Godwins Law, except we are substituting Brexit for Hitler.0 -

MSE - NO!
You cannot argue ''not a GPEOL'' in your template, over TWO YEARS after the Beavis case.
Even my teenage son who doesn't drive, knows not to include 'not a GPEOL' (not a genuine pre-estimate of loss) as an argument in a private PCN appeal or defence...even my cat knows that, or she probably does, from hearing me mutter about this awful advice. It is doomed and dangerous.
MSE please please please, sort out these horrendous issues with your advice. You cost people money.
From the "official MSE" Free template appeal letter.
The charge is disproportionate and not a genuine pre-estimate of loss
The amount you have charged is not based upon any genuine pre-estimate of loss to your company or the landowner.
In my case, the [insert figure] charge you are asking for far exceeds the cost to the landowner of [insert details of the parking costs eg if the fee is £100 but I only overstayed 15 minutes]. I therefore feel the amount you are asking for is excessive.
... and it also gives away the driver's identity!
Not too[STRIKE] out of date [/STRIKE] out of touch then, as well as the opposite of money saving.
I have reported the OP as it contains links that lead to this damaging appeal letter. I suggest others might want to do the same as the report a post system actually seems to get looked at.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks0 -

This may not be the thread to ask, but I'm in need of a bit of some advice please,
Is it still the policy not to pay a private parking fine as I recived one by post from a company after taking 1 hour 15minutes to eat a meal in a KFC restaurant in September twenty seventeen.
The reason I ask, is the advice I've been given so far from friends family etc is not to pay and ignore the letters.
I see all the threads I've read on this site about not paying and ignoring the letters are dated many years ago.
I've ignored four letters so far and my fine is now two hundred pounds. With the threat of solicitors as there next action
Should I just of paid the fine in the first place Any advice given would be gratefully received .
The company is a member of the BPA
Thanks0
