You are definitely entitled to compensation. I would estimate you should receive 1 torch.

But what about the emotional turmoil and the fact that children could have been killed ?

Many, many years ago I found a sledgehammer under the bonnet of my Morris Minor traveller. It was just resting on a ledge against the scuttle. Just returned it to the garage next time I was passing. Cannot remember why they said it had been left there. Did no damage to the car.

Have found other things such as ear protectors and tools, but again a long, long time ago.

Joe, I'd sue them for damage caused to the torch by their vehicle and also file a loss of earnings claim for the jobs you couldn't do without said torch.

Not to mention the emotional harm cos it was a Christmas gift from their deceased parents.

What I can't understand is that if a garage left a torch on the exhaust, then why weren't the oxygen and acetylene bottles noticed as they bounced along behind?
  • This thread is torchure.
  • Poor old OP :(

I feel no one is treating this issue with the seriousness the OP expected

I once lost a nice automatic watch under the bonnet of a Wolseley 6/110. Never managed to find it again and never received a complaint from subsequent owner(s). My wife wasn't pleased.

Does the torch still work? If so thats not a bad find. I am always buying and mislaying torches. I would be thinking 'great, i have got a new torch'.

What ledge would that be to accomodate a "sledge" hammer.
I'm finding it hard to see one suitable on my Minor 1000.
