None of this 'It's a new bed therefore unfamiliar', then? Actually I think that is the perfect way to conclude this year.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

She is lucky indeed. We desperately need a new bed but loathe to get one until we do our room up properly. We bought our bed only about 3 years ago but it’s absolutely rubbish, Silent Night, used to be a good make unfortunately no longer 👎 DD has bought the bed herself nothing to do with us. Both my kids have always been good sleepers from an early age, they take after me, my problem is staying awake.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)8

Hi Sun_Addict, just delurking to say that we bought our mattress from Bensons and its a Silent Night - really heavy and a pain to turn over. When DD moved out and took her bed with her I bought a replacement from Ikea. Got to say the Ikea one was about a third of the price for the base and the mattress, and its definitely better than the Silent Night one in my opinion (Mr Shores snoring has driven me to trying it out quite often
). Ms Shores has the i-gel bed from Bensons and that is the best bed I have ever slept on, sadly at about £1,700 I probably won't be buying one.

Morning all, happy hump day 🎄
Hi Sandy, our last bed was a Sealy and so much better. I intend to buy a decent one next time, I've learned another lesson the hard way. The bedroom needs gutting, re-plastering, new furniture and bed, a job for next year if I can.
Today should be NSD5 of December, don't plan to go anywhere or buy anything today. Will have to go to the big Mr T tomorrow morning though for things missing from my Mr M order. Also need to decide which day next week will be the best to pick up fresh stuff for Christmas, I don't trust Mr M to deliver what I want unfortunately.
Exercise today will be two short HIIT sessions from the WW app, walking the dog at lunchtime and a treadmill run after work. Cleaning is living room, hall and stairs. Tonight's dinner is quorn lasagne (using up from freezer stocks) and salad.
Should be a fairly quiet day work-wise, hopefully will be able to wind down a bit ready for breaking up next Wednesday.
I've got a carer's review with the council this afternoon, usually get £150 but there was talk of this being stopped because of funding cutbacks when I had my review last year.
Have a wonderful Wednesday x

Have a great day.
Not had a quorn lasagne for a long time. Might stick one on the list for next week7 -
Hopefully not for your carer's review.
I had mine late but they sent a payment in advance which surprised me !! Getting a payment at all surprised me tbh, I signed up to the service to be signposted for any relevant help as mum deteriorates as everything is a different council/health authority to my own.
Assume yours is a similar initiative.6 -
It's an annual one off payment from the county council meant to be for carers to have a spa break or similar. Like you say it gets your name on the relevant lists for future assistance. I had a few months of free gym membership last year which was brilliant.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)8

Yes its at County Council level, I haven't used it much but they offer really practical and useful things, compared to some places which send lots of literature but don't actually do much.7

Good news I've had the assessment and will get the £150 🎉 There aren't many perks of being a carer so I'm happy to take whatever is on offer. I was also offered a short break, but that wouldn't go down well with him at all.
After the last two days being lovely and sunny, today has been really miserable. Got soaked taking the dog on the park but she enjoyed herself and had a good run so it was worth it.
