Oh dear!  Is it time for the male version of tena lady or would he not do that?  Or maybe it wouldn't cope anyway.  I hope you can find a solution that doesn't involve you scrubbing furniture etc.  Does he get upset/angry or does he soon forget what has happened?  I know it upsets me when my friend has a wet patch on the front of his trousers & I have to tell him, but it doesn't seem to bother him at all, which actually bothers me more than the fact that it happened!

Can he use a urinal bottle, if that is the correct term.  You are amazing to cope with all that you do.

He’s got a few urinal bottles dotted about the house in strategic places. I’m afraid this is the other much more unpleasant toilet accident. Currently on change of clothes #4 😩 I don’t know what causes it, must be a brain damage thing 😩 Where do I hand in my resignation as a carer it’s not what I wanted 😩

SA I don’t know how you do it either....and after you’d had a lovely relaxing bath too. Does he realise he needs to go and just not get there or doesn’t he get any warning......either way it doesn’t make it any easier for you. I’m guessing the doctors don’t have any answers for you. At least you hadn’t cleaned your carpets today.

Apparently loss of bowel control (or awareness of need to go, or ability to plan etc) is often associated with brain injury. The charity Headway has a page on it, and searching for 'loss of bowel control and brain injury' brought up quite a lot of info. I think you said you'd found it impossible to get him to wear continence pads, but would kylies on soft furnishings be any help? - though that doesn't sound as if it's the problem area. I wonder if it's a particular action, like standing up, that's triggering it?

I'd assumed it was a bowel accident, as wet accidents tend not to smell until they are old!  Is he able to explain what happened before the accident?  Could he have thought he had wind, which turned out not to be wind after all?
