After reading that load of nonsense........ you should have gone with the crossword.

I did the crossword earlier, you posted your reply around 9:30pm but here you are still logged in at 1:37 ... I had hoped for a well formulated though disparaging reply. Obviously, it's not like your short of time to reply... I shall take my leave from this thread, safe in the knowledge you gave up
It could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.0 -
It's just that I have a girlfriend( Hint: They are better than crosswords
)
My computer can stay on. You see, with Broadband there is no need to sign out.
I've also have friends on different time zones.
I don't need to work, so I have time for that...but not for you.
Unless you need my help.

Me too, who do you think helped with the crossword

Again me too (strokes 50MB cable modem connection).I've also have friends on different time zones.
You have friends, when did this happen?

If I need some unwanted attention or maybe a 'stalker' Donnie, rest assured I shall give you a shout

If ABH was a girl and I wasn't spoken for, I might have considered it.

Crossword with your girlfriend? What an exciting existence! How do you find time in between staring at your LCD TV?
Friends? I don't know. There's no accounting for taste, is there? Ask your girlfriend.
( Was that below the belt? )
Unwanted attention? Wasn't it you who asked me to peruse your other threads? Sorry, I had to decline your request.
On this thread, I only asked where you got the LCD TV reference, as I couldn't find it. That set you off, didn't it?
Anyway, where's the OP with his new questions?
Obviously we have a lot of time on our hands.

Richer Sounds sell a variety of TVs at a good price.
Alternativley do what I did and settle for a smaller TV/DVD combi from a supermarket. I bought a Pacfic brand from Asda for £45 and as my last Pacific branded TV has lasted 5 years, I know they're reliable and very easy to use.
At least if it it does die on you in a couple of years, the next model is bound to be even cheaper.Total Wins 2011: Zilch

Hello everyone,Well, this thread seems to have taken on an interesting and at the same time quite hilarious life of its own while I have been away!?!I am so indecisive on this one, its untrue. I'm trying to take the good advice everyone has offered and come to a sensible decision, but it changes like the wind, I must say. This is my current plan. Get a Bush 19" HD Ready, digital widescreen LCD tv (from Argos looks the best bet price wise £219.99- and you don't have to pay anything for 6 months, which will get Xmas out of the way etc). You also get a 1/2 price wall bracket (so that's £14.99) with this. Because of my worries that the burnt DVDs that I have won't play, I have decided to go with the seperate option (good idea, also bearing in mind the what if one bit goes wrong thing) and just use the DVD player from my living room (which has always played anything I have tried on it) and stick it on a nice shelf under the new tv. Then, get a new cheap DVD player for the living room. Am I right that the cheaper the DVD player the more likely it is to play burnt DVDs because its the dearer DVD players that have the security features built in?Also, I am going to go for a philips SBCHC8440 FM cordless headphone for £34.79 (also at Argos). Another question, when a tv mentions it is HD ready, but doesn't mention that it is digital, does that mean that it probably isn't digital. There seems to be a lot of confusion, and dare I say it but it looks to me that stores are trying to shift the non digital sets without being strictly honest that they will be useless in a few years. And how will I know if the 32 inch tv I have had in my living room for the last couple of years is digital? Thanks all!Duncan0

unless it says it has freeview then it isnt digital but that doesnt matter if you have a digital box of some kind. whether it be a freeview box, sky or cable. there are very good digital tv recorders that are freeview boxes that do the same as sky+ and are usually better. you can get one of them for around £100 i think. my mate has one and he says it is very good. dont believe all this nonesense about current equipment not working after the digital switch over. i saw a so called expert on working lunch say current analogue vcrs wont work after the switch over. i was shouting at the screen saying how come our vcr has worked for years with our sky digital box.0
